What are you after? Stats? Don't take my word for it, you do your own work. Have you got the AFL app??? Open it, go into each Eagles home game for the last few years and hit the stats tab, scroll down to free kicks and tally how many times the Eagles have won it. Dont have the time? Then bow out of you can't be bothered being thorough.

Pathetic! Which team has the biggest free kick differential? I will give you a clue - it's not the Eagles, and even if it were there is no significance, you still have to win the ball

West Coast deserve every piece of a grand final berth. They are always lumped in with ‘the rest’ behind Richmond but they deserve their own pedestal - they truly are a great team.

- missed JJK and Darling for extensive periods, often at the same time
- loss of Gaff, their best midfielder at the time
- Nic Nat’s ACL
- playing a number of first or second year players who are still finding their feet at AFL level

And still they managed to justify themselves as a great side on so many occasions - smashing Richmond at home, beating the Pies and Giants on their home grounds, beating the Power twice, and beating a gallant Magpie outfit in the first final.

A fantastic side they are, and a Richmond vs West Coast grand final is what this season deserves. Good luck to both sides.

Eddies fair game, But I think his family should be left out of it.

Anyway, Eddies frustrated expressions are probably just the look of an average fan at the footy, but he is the one who has the camera on him all the time.

Agree

He is just a fan when he’s at the game ....he’s not the president

The man loves his footy team and wants them to succeed, why do so many people have a problem with this?

I didn’t but he’s easy cannon fodder if you behave like that

It was so funny at the end ....siren goes ...he gets up and storms off ....his kids are still sitting there ....

They are kinda like errr dad can you calm down

I’m worried he will actually have heart attact or a stroke ....I’m semi serious

Varcoe deserves GOTY for his effort last night considering everything.

I’ve always said when you face Tragedy there’s two schools of thought

Go away and be on your own and reflect ... by yourself so you don’t have to talk to anyone

Or do what you’d planned to .....I speak about this with clients and it’s evidence based

I lost my best mate to suicide when I was 23....next day I played golf with my buddies because that’s what I did every Sunday morning ......

Sitting about just causes you to keep thinking .....be around your mates is the most helpful thing in a time of need .....I suspect he was at peace last night for two and half hours

Right now I’m listening to Stan Alves talk about losing his 13 yr old son .....saying the very same thing

It’s on abc right now .........

What a cracking game. 11 lead changes. Can't ask for much more in a final.

Last quarter was louder than any game I've been to. God I love this stadium.

Pies fans all class. We were in 107 and pies cheersquad was in 105. No issues at all. Joffa was out front before start of game, happy to have a chat and selfies with anyone who asked.

First and I sincerely hope last time I ever clap an opposition goal in a final. How he even played, yet alone played well is beyond me.

Shattered for Shep's. Just plain sucks. Was worried we would run out of legs being one down most of the game. Glad we didn't :)

So are you trying to say them winning the free kick count during H&A correlates to them winning a finals game where the free kick count is even? You dont have numbers relevant to the game this thread is about because they dont exist.

My whole point is that they are at fault for any poor decision.

But every team gets poor decisions.

And not every team can have exactly the same free kick counts. Some teams dont play to the rules as well as others.

Listening to tiger fans they think every free kick against is a conspiracy against them instead of actually listening to your coach who admits your game style is more likely to give away frees.

There has never been a free kick paid by anyone else other than an umpire, but using that incredibly obvious observation as a basis to forget they umpire other games too is just absurd and another example of how people fall through the cracks of the education system. You're a couple of standard deviations below.

You may be right about a free kick not being paid by anyone else other than an umpire, but the umpire once sought instructions from Essendon player Ty Zantuk on what he wanted to do after bumping Matthew Carr

Not wanting to buy into the umpiring discussion too much, but from a neutral perspective, did anyone think the opening goal of the game by Vardy from the ruck was a push in the back for Grundy?

I thought there were a few dubious decisions, but that’s footy and the umpires are human.

The Kennedy non mark paid and Rioli’s free kick weren’t there, but they didn’t result in goals.

The Mayne 50 was there - umpire hadn’t called play on for the player to come in and try smother. That’s a 50 every day.

Can’t think of anything else off the top of my head.

I thought so - pushed him under it.

I think we got a dubious one in the 2nd though. Thats football - I never get dragged into picking apart and debating particular umpiring decisions or using them as a reason for a loss. Some go for you, some against you. It all evens out.

The umpires didn't decide the game at all last night.

Well played West Coast. Great game. Proud of our effort and saw enough last night to believe we can still have a say. Big game next week.

Mayne played on clearly ....woeful decision ...the mistake was Call play on you idiot when he’s running ffs

I’ve seen three replays of Kennedy mark....yes it probably grazed the ground but they are mostly paid and in real time speed I can see how they paid

The vardy one was probably there but the mistake Grundy made was diving forward trying to milk it .....you do that and umps go nada not paying that ....he over milked it for sure

Ok answer mine

De goey...cole for holding ....oh please ....he wasn’t holding at all
Cripps deliberate near the end was a joke
Shep ....he did his hammy ....he was pushed in the back ....now I’m not bitching about the injury but ffs it’s a free kick

I think you’ll win ...you got three goals closer than I thought you would

The liability you have is mason cox ....he was a statue last night and is very reliant on perfect kick

But you guys had a crack
