His AA form was more or less to do with Dusty taking the heat off him. With Dusty gone Bolton getting all the attention and not ablle to fight his way through it. He will have the same problem at Fremantle im afraid. Its a good year for the club to hit the draft with a good draft hand and look again in 12 months for the cream

Its too soon to pull the trigger with this list

None of them are a prime Dusty, but playing around Young, Serong and Brayshaw would be significantly different to Richmond this year.

So, massive choke by Freo. Every bit the finalist, maybe even top four a month ago. It's same with bombers, blues, and swans .. even Brisbane was my lock for 1st a few weeks ago. Not a chance. Maybe people look at Fyfe because he moves so slow the players are concerned for his physical well being but leadership sits with Brayshaw/Serong/Ryan nowadays. Those players will all be in the WAFL by mid next year

Mate seriously you must be trolling if you really believe that the freo players dont see the likes of Sonny , Fyfe as their leaders of their football club. Has nothing to do with how they have performed but more the way these kids see them and look to them for their experience and leadership.

If you're not good enough to beat Port at home in whats basically an elimination final you probably aren't beating them or anyone else elsewhere. Think they've been overrated this year too, an average to good side but not a contender.

If it’s any consolation for Freo supporters, you would have just been delaying the inevitability of the first elimination final. Blues fans get to enjoy the niceties of the next couple of weeks before facing the same inevitability.

There is no consolation or joy from me. I rather of gotten 8th spot this season.

Any dockers fan tells me otherwise, well I will say this.

the dockers season is done. 30th full season completed. From 1995-2024, dockers have only made finals only 8 times out of 30.

2003, 2006, 2010, 2012,
2013, 2014, 2015, 2022.

Those 8 years. In that 8 years of those finals, they only had one period of sustained finals or made back to back finals or finals for at least 2 years in a row only once. That was 2012-15 under you guess it Ross "He will destroy your list a the end" Lyon.

Its not the lack of flags that hurt me personally, its the back of sustained finals or back to back finals in that 30 year stretch.

I would definately trade 2003 to make finals in 2005. that means making back to back finals in 2005-6.

I would trade our 2010 elim finals win in exchange of beating essendon in round 9 of 2021. Had we beaten essendon in round 9 of 2021, dockers would of essentially took essendons 8th spot. That also means back to back finals in 2021-22.


I know its not much but it would be slightly better to make back to back finals in 2005-6 and 2021-22 with that 2012-15 era.

If it’s any consolation I was most worried about coming up against Freo in two weeks. You have a very balanced team with a nice midfield. Just need some x-factor like Bolton. And imo at some stage Fyfe and probably Walters will need to make way for younger talent, I thought they were both poor tonight.

I think you have a lot to look forward to next season mr maniac, don’t get too down.

Well...

There were a Few narrow losses that cost Freo finals this season.

Round 4 vs Carlton in Gather round. (That robbery made a huge difference looking back now).

ROund 5 vs Port in Adelaide, Lost by under a goal.

Draw vs Collingwood in Perth on friday night.

Narrow loss to hawks in Tassie.


Then comes the final 4 games of the season.

The Loss to Essendon by a Point. Mind you that didnt end freos season, it did knock the wind out of us. Then we had the next game, a 2 goal loss vs the Cats in Perth. GWS beat us by 9 points next. Then finally this 20 point loss to Port in Perth.

Bad way to end the season. But since I am a freo fan, Disappointment and failures and heart breaks are normal to me. Oh and No flags to look back on.

Still a reminder that the only time Freo made a sustained finals run was 2012-15.

Carlton really “steven bradbury” their way into the finals haha

Everyone seems to forget that Bradbury did enough to get himself into that final.
Blues did enough during the year to get one more win than the teams in 9th and 10th.
Freo or Pies getting in at the last second, after Blues fall over against Saints would also have been a Bradbury. Probably more so, given they were out of the 8 at the start of the last round.

So really, we're one of the other skaters, who fell over right at the end, then got back up in time to scramble over the line for bronze.
