I mentioned this in a preseason prediction thread but I feel Adelaide have had a very soft preseason out of fear of injury to their midfielders again.

Another note. Wow they over use the ball. It seems like they have to hand pass everything through both crouch’s before they’re allowed to move the ball forward. Whereas hawks just efficient and pressure like Richmond’s game style.

Laird shits himself when an opponent is near him, pads his stats getting cheapies across half back.

Lol

I think he enjoys the hate. Like Toby he does need to be discillined and understand the boundaries, but I love it.

It's different if they can back it up - Greene, Sicily, Zorko, De Goey, Oliver etc carry on but are genuinely good.

It's the Jack Lonie, Jed Lamb types who niggle and carry on but have been lucky to get anything past a VFL game that really irritate.

Well Melbourne and Adelaide believed their own hype.

Collingwood to their credit played well, interesting to see how WCE go.

Did Walker have any injury worries in the pre-season? This has been a pretty dreadful performance from a leader.
No, he's a deadset liability and some Crows fans need to admit the truth. Shouldn't be captain and needs to pull the pin.

Never been the same since injury. I don't blame him. Some never recover.

I'm glad Sloane got captaincy but it shouldn't be shared.

Took some leave after his baby passed away, but that was November.
Heard he was quite fit, that was the talk anyway.

Think he has just been beaten by a class Hawks team defence today - Stratton, Frawley, Sicily are a genuinely good trio.

We suck and will miss the finals again - mark it down ... We are too slow and that includes the minds in the coaxing box .
Too many people working within the club that believe their own hype - too much back scratching and bum patting .
No lateral thinkers - no real questions asked as long as we all look after each other for the pay cheque .
It permeates through the culture and the players - we do not reward youth yet we reward spuds .
Mackay and Douglas are not first 28let alone 22 . Tex , Jacobs and Betts are well DONE !

The quality of footy this weekend so far has been absolutely shithouse, basically in every game so far.

Hawks beat the Pies by 6 goals this time last year. Swans did the Eagles in Perth. The Demons choked it v the Cats.
I know things can change, but it doesn't change the fact Melbourne and Adelaide were overwhelming favourite. Not like Adelaide played badly in the JLT either... Of which one stupid new fan insisted how important that was...

The old timers will say no and then rattle off some "legend", but coaching in the modern era (especially in the last decade) has improved leaps and bounds, so much more complexity and sophistication when it comes to coaching and game plans now than it was in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

Yes imo, Clarkson is the best
An amazing coach. Just seems to get the best out of that 14-28 range of player on the list. They all know their role. I need to watch this game more closely because I've had a few but does it appear to you that they've seemed to get an extra number or two behind the ball quicker than most in this current round?
