I don’t know how underrated this is, but if there is one thing that troubles teams time and time again for years now is Sydney’s defensive structure. I know that West Coast is not playing well at all but that’s also because of how Sydney defend.

For those who know, is there a particular defensive coach that has been with Sydney for years or is this all Longmire?
That slingshot rebound thing really became apparent in a 2012 win over Essendon. Been a comfortable strength practically ever since. Had a lot of decent kicks in the backline who knew where to position, and their traditional frenetic 120% work around the ball and stoppages frees up space for when an opponent plodder gets a step and bombs long in hope.

I am not across what they do tactically but one thing that is notable is every player in their team in every position brings effort, energy, intensity and defensive pressure. Players who don't do not get selected. That is Longmire I think.

Surely Papleys position is in trouble. Can’t even hit Hayward in the goal square on his own. Has been ordinary of late.

No chance mate. Been alright today. Had a few score involvements

Last time we showed fight was a few weeks ago on the back of some energetic kids coming in and putting in some sterling performances. The next week they were dropped for underdone and under performing senior players. Culture problems

That is certainly what it looks like to someone who watches most of your games but doesn't follow the team closely.
I remarked to my partner at the time when I saw all the outs it seemed counter productive to cut all the players who were getting it done.
Of course the players they brought in have runs on the board but the team hasn't seemed to play with any energy since.
