I'd suggest the criticism is not so much the free itself but rather that it was paid down field as it occurred during Selwoods kicking action as opposed to after it.

I also have an issue with the free. You see how tough this sport is and to see soft ones like that paid just looks strange.
Ridiculous, umpiring has been poor but fairly even. Extremely bad skills by both teams, we are lucky yours have been a tad worse.

That's one of those things that always had and always will be paid even though it doesn't affect anything. Like those shit frees where a player gets lightly touched high and it has zero impact on the game.
