True, but I lost count of the number of times we randomly blasted the ball into the forwardline last week. It was a huge reason why we couldn't kick goals.

Yep, losing a match with that advantage of inside 50s was absurd.

I like the side we have picked. Only change for me would be Hollands for DC/Fogarty with one of them sub. The extra run is needed.

I am also told Marchbank is sore so might be late change

Regardless I see this as an arm wrestle with only a goal or two into it. Can't see either side kicking more than 12 goals unless one side really freezes up

Great night for it and should be a beauty

Go Blues

Again we generated more than enough quality shots at goal but did not convert, the biggest issue was conversion.

Think the blues are just getting up tonight. Although weirdly enough I reckon they'll get thumped next week by brissy whereas the dees would give them a scare.

Very interesting game tonight.

Both teams missing serious components of their best forward lines on paper... But both teams seem to play better football when they don't have their best on paper forward line.

Both defenses are set up for defending high ball entry with gun intercept defenders at either end.
Sets up to be a really interesting game. The midfield battle is all brutes, Dees with the clear ruck edge given Gawn would be the best ruckman in the comp with two broken legs, so I don't believe a broken toe will effect him much.
Blues problem have the slight edge on the inside game through depth alone, but Dees with the advantage on burst.

Odd to think it, but you get the vibe both sides would like to turn it into a scrap, chaos forward entries will probably prove more difficult for each defense than the high ball.

Blues will need to focus on finding away to separate and isolate the May/Lever duo. Not sure who Lever will go to at the start of the game, but if Carlton get the ball in space going forward, will need to look for Lever's man and try play through him as much as possible early to keep him accountable.

Very excited to see how the Dees come out with fire in the belly. They've been smashed (unfairly I feel) all weak about a "soft underbelly". Reminds me of the time Mitch Robinson decided to say the Dees play Bruise free footy. Thankfully nothing like that has come from one of our players this time.

Midfield match ups are going to be interesting. The hard tag on Cripps can work, but the better cooling roles done on him over the years have been when the opposition play a genuine gun off him rather than on him, as he's easily exposed on defensive work rate.
Petracca seems the most logical. Hewett I assume will get the cooling job on Oliver with leaves a Viney vs Walsh/Cerra match up.
Brayshaw is a big loss, mainly due to the limitations it might put on the amount of time Petracca can spend forward.

Dees are a strong last quarter team, and the Blues are still known for struggling to close out games without hearts in mouths moments.

I can't make a prediction, but Carltons best chance of winning could be from a very unlikely tactic. Charlie to play a lot higher up the ground so he can get more genuine one on ones, hopefully dragging May out of the D50 then use his field kicking to hit isolated targets.

Goodluck to both sides. Hope its a cracker, and no more injuries please. Really want the winner of this game to win the flag. Otherwise its all down to GWS. Because the Lions refuse to win at the G.

There’s nothing parochial about pointing both teams have a prelim final berth to play for.

I’d call that factual. But each to their own, I guess.
The result of a win is the same but it's the result of a loss that's different. Melbourne will be crucified if they lose whereas our season will be considered a big stepping stone forward regardless. That's pretty obvious.

Tipping the Blues tonight, is that dumb too?!

Probably... 😆

But can't see how Melbourne will score, too short, Weitering and Gov will have a picnic, surely Grundy will be a late in
Probably.
Wouldn't bet for or against any of these Jekyll and Hyde sides you never know who is going to turn up.
No surprise to see either one win by 6 goals to be honest.
Game is 95% head , 5% skill

No doubt the heat will be more on Melbourne if they lose than on if Carlton do.

But, that is a different discussion to one team having more to play for than the other.

Is there any way they can both lose? Both sets of supporters on BF are equally as obnoxious. It would be a fitting reward.

Any team can boost their inside 50 count if their aim is to just hack it high into the forward line.

Just most teams are not coached like it’s the 1980s and actually look for effective kicks into the 50.

Classic ‘rope and dope’ stuff last week.

Really want to see the Blues get up. Long term loyal Blue supporters have suffered like we did prior to 2017.

Surely they are due a bit of joy.
