The players (and coach) are just as shattered and devastated as most of us here after the heartbreaking defeat last night. Hopefully, these close defeats will fuel the club’s 2025 campaign - although Kingsley at his interview did say that he thought they had addressed the issues from the Sydney swans loss for this Brisbane match.

A loss like that can really impact the club going forward. Most teams tend never revisit a loss like that - losing a major final from a winning position. The most recent one that comes to mind is Brisbane Broncos up 24-8 in the NRL Grand Final last year with 20 mins to go. Lost it, and didn't recover this season. The Atlanta Falcons lost one similarly against the Pats in a Superbowl.

Most sports organisations, coaches and players tend to never revisit the game. Never watch it, never want to think about it. A mental trauma they never want to relive. I heard a psychologist say that best way to deal with shit like that is the opposite. Re live the experience until you're just numb to it.

Interesting to see how Kinglsey and the club approach it.

At least half of them Lions fans.
Yes, didnt go un-noticed the support for Lions too.

A big FU to Colonial on this board, for labelling me a troll, for calling out this shit on West Sydney.

They wont support AFL out there, end of story. It will not improve greatly, premiership/s in the future or not.

Manuka Oval (it needs to be upgraded) has supported the Giants in great numbers since 2012.

Sydney is a shithole.

Only 18thousand at Giants stadium.

Was like a carnival atmosphere in the old Carrara bears mould, but unfortunately a cut throat final. They’ve been a contender for nearly a decade now & the stadium/supporter base still lacks that primal AFL passion. AFL really need to think about relocating them to Canberra where AFL has a genuine heartbeat.

Not even 20k in attendance for a semi final.

What a joke
Eh, we get what we all deserve

Everyone sat on their hands over this, happy for AFL to give over 420 mill more then some clubs have gotten since their inception to achieve this mediocre number

Not 1 single person has done anything about it... How can we complain now....

Best of both worlds tonight.

A win + getting to read posts from embarrassing distraught Carlton spuds.

Hahahaha

I'm not quite sure what we were supposed to "do" about it. The experiment is failing. Last night was a semi-final, ffs, and every single North Melbourne home game, despite their doldrums, have had better atmospheres.

It is not working and it was never going to work. Great players and a handful of loyal fans doesn't make them any less of a marketing strategy masquerading as a team.

Give the NRL their due, they're not obsessed with pushing teams into markets that don't want it. An equivalent to last night would have been the Greater Eastern Melbourne NRL team playing an eliminator in Avalon against Canberra and drawing 5,000 people.

The Giant's finals run this season might be an all time bed shit. They had both matches won and just gave up, now Heeney had maybe one of the greatest individual finals to win the qualifying final for Sydney but it doesn't change the fact that both games the Giants just stopped.

Chris Connolly also got very heated with a few Saints like Lenny in Sirengate. The result on the day was still live when he stormed on to the ground. To be fair though the circumstances there were deeply unjust.

The problem there is, umpires cannot be awarding free kicks to make up for ones they supposedly missed, that is bordering on corruption.

If an umpire misses something they miss something, yes it sucks but sometimes the umpire cannot see everything as there are other players in front of the play blocking their view.

If that decision was a square-up, then that umpire should be sacked from the AFL, it is just not good enough to have people officiating in that manner.

I did some junior umpiring in my school days and Ian Coates, who was our umpires advisor, always drilled into us to "pay the free kicks you see, not the ones you think you see". He was very open about it saying on many occassions, "it is impossible to see every infringement that happens in a match".

The free kick against Taylor was simply inconsistent with the way that shit rule is meant to work (yes, I am a staunch opponent of that rule and want it to be rescinded and never to be seen ever again). Compounding matters was the time of the match that the officiating umpire decided to pluck out that highly controversial decision from deep inside his rear orifice.
Yeah besides the fact it was blatantly deliberate.

I live in Victoria- take off your navy blue coloured lenses, very dark blue if you could not see that. Anyway Carlton supporter, not a little bitter because we keep ending your season’s and embarrassing your shambles of a club in the process are we?

Let's stick to the topic shall we.

You are looking at that incident as a Lions supporter, everyone else who disagrees with you is a neutral, thats the point here.
