Massive danger game for mine. On paper and form, this is a Freo win but the amount of Essendon bashing from the media and their own supporters this week will have the team as fired up as they could ever be. Freo showed massive maturity last week and took a big step forwards in their development as a contender by overcoming the Eagles at their fiery best, and will have to do the same again this week. Essendon will be desperate to put on a good showing in a game that could end their finals hopes should they lose. Lose and they’re two wins out of the eight with games against Sydney and Brisbane to come. Win and they’re still in touch.
This week will tells us everything we need to know about the Bombers.
The Bombers will be desperate and will come out breathing fire. The Dockers will need to hang on. The flip side is if Freo can break them in the 3rd like they did WC last week, the Dons could roll over and die by a 50+ point margin. Expect the cleaners to have a few more scarves if that’s the case. I’m going Freo by 8 goals, but half time will be close to level, if not Essendon in front.
