Melbourne spent all of those years tanking and around the bottom of the ladder for one good year (where most of their fans couldn't even go see them play).

You'd be disappointed if you are a Dees fan.

nice try. the flag was beautiful. Most fans can't go to granny's anyway. And we had multiple good years. And be quiet, we lost Luke Jackson, Brayshaw, Mac Andrew stolen from us, Petracca injured, Oliver free-falling and we played one of the most gifted teams in the afl with Ugle-Hagan and Sam Darcy. Literally give us those 2 players and the result is reversed. It's not an even comp, every team is just trying to play their best footy possible.

I am curious as to what's changed tactically to unlock his new and improved version of the Dogs.

The consensus early in the season seemed to be that talent was clearly not an issue but that Bevo had run his race and his message was falling on deaf ears. All of a sudden they are playing the best brand of football in the league with absolute confidence and belief in themselves.

New assistants and fitness team. It was always going to take half a year to fully gel

I bet it's eating you that the NGA restrictions are being removed and Essendon is going to end up with the best small forward in the draft.

off field moves have helped But Bevo deserved some credit for moves being made:

A move for pace into the side.

Despite the media looking at pure stats and asking why they get dropped, he wanted Macrae and Daniels role to change as they were falling behind in the system.

He dropped Dale which kicked him up the backside. Media also sooked about this despite praising sidebottom and Collingwood for the same action.

Focused on players like Gallagher, Sanders, Freijah, Bramble etc which have stood up. That included also being tough on Sanders via sub which the media again pressured him for.

He moves richards to mid and Lobb to defense

He puts pressure on the forward half in particular, that they have to help defend the ground

Now all of a sudden the media likes him again despite criticising the whole way through the changes
