I like a few Essendon players, but I’ve said this on other threads - pick a best 22 from the comp, then a second 22. How many Essendon players are in it? I’d be surprised if there are more than two players across both teams.

IMO Merrett is undoubtedly in the top 44 players in the comp. And the rest of Essendon’s list is nowhere near it.

I’ve got a preseason bet on the lions for the flag but I’m close to burning it. They’re not a serious team.

Even if their defense looked ok (which it doesn’t), their complete lack of an ability to score properly would be a massive concern.
