For everyone that always says "We'll never win a flag with insert spud here in the team", Eric Hipwood is now a premiership player.

How can AFL coaches not be aware of the effectiveness of extra numbers in defence gameplan vs not in high pressure games?? Adelaide 2017 or today textbook examples. It's too much to ask with the evenness of the comp, with a heap of pressure applied, with the smartness of the defenders, for mids to hit kicks that forwards 2 on to 1 can mark. You at least have to have that as a plan B but it seems like Longmire just didn't think it was necessary.

Look at the margins too:

63 points
22 points
81 points

And now looking like a 100 point loss.

One of these was enough to break me, imagine sitting there for your fourth like $10,000 the poorer

Hipwood has kicked 70 odd goals in past 2 seasons. Not sure you can be considered a spud with those numbers.

They have a few coming to the end but imagine winning the flag with guys like Ashcroft, Morris, Fletcher, Coleman, Lowmann and others. Then picking up the player most likely to be the number one pick.

Should stay competitive for a while yet.
