no, we were disinterested and sore after the saints game, and played accordingly, all who saw it said we didn't come to play. I remember that, so how do you diagnose dementia?

Wrong. If memory serves Geelong made 7 or 8 changes after the St. Kilda game, there was nothing disinterested about it. You simply cannot make that many changes against another top 8 side and expect to win. Your statement that it should have been a bye is either disingenuous or you used that sentence with a different interpretation. Either way you need better quality control on the increasingly silly things you are posting, because people are starting to think you're a bit NQR.

IM Actually tipping a Suns win -dont like the look of our side one little bit-a novice ruckman plus a 1st gamer -plus Mooney hasnt played for a month .Add to that one or 2 of the emergencies will play . The Suns were very good for a half against Adelaide in Adelaide -ifr they play like that for 4 qtrs they will win
Also Geelong have a shocking record against new INTERSTATE TEAMS IN THEIR 1ST MATCH against us .In fact every new interstate team ie (Brisbane bears eagles , crows ,dockers and port adelaide all defeated Geelong in their 1st match against us -so we are going for 6 straight losses against the Suns .Iwould settle for a 1 point win
Didn't Geelong beat the eagles in rd 2 at kp in 87

Made me laugh....

Hey I like " SPLOD" .... it has a ring to it. Like dropping jelly from a great height to a concrete floor....I reckon we'll splod Gold Coast on Saturday....no problem!

I may have invented a new word! I'll keep using it when we splod the mercenaries

Even Dasher was not around in 87. I am glad our players don't carry the same mental scars that some supporters do from the late 80s-90s.

I wonder how many years of relentless winning it would take before there was some confidence in this group of players?

We have an inexperienced ruckmen, the gold coast has an inexperienced team.

They should be about odds of 20-1. 20-1s get up every now again but seriously, tipping them?

Don't talk to me about mental scars even the 2007 GF was to close for my liking, this is defiantly the kind of game we could have lost in the past.

Leigh Mathews said an interesting thing last week on a different topic"Hope creates energy"and I relate that to this game as few big outs for us will have them thinking there a chance.

We wouldn't want to give them any more hope by kicking poorly at goal or they may be in this longer than we would like.

However if we get off to a flier it could be a massacre.

Drama Queen !!!

I'm hoping we see a solar splosion (aka 'a splod' :D) tonight of cosmic proportions, just to put their youthful cockiness in place and teach them a little respect.

Seriously though, I think we might find it hard to shake them off for a quarter or two, before our sheer strength and experience sees us pull away comfortably.

I'll watch Vardy and Hawkins with interest - Vardy should be better for the run and will feel a little more comfortable in this game, and Hawkins should dominate given his size and experience against mere boys.

I don't think so moondog, I think we played the Bears and we got sploded.

VFL Round 2 ,Sat April 4 1987 K'Park

Geelong 19:17:131 were defeated by B. Bears 23:12: 150

I am as NQR as you, and yes, I am NQR. Who is ? Why do I need better quality control on postings? Do you think people are hanging on every word we write? Again, we rested far too many that day, and those that played were of the appearance out on the field that they'd rather have stayed at home. Commentators, supporters, etc had these viewpoints. So a bye would have been very timely. You are very pedantic. This is not a spiritual argument BTW.
All we can do is think, have an opinion and write it, this is not a court of law.

I am not too confident for some reason... I am not putting any money on this game. Their first home game and will be up and about to test themselves against Geelong.

We're resting a few and I hope our attitude isnt too lazy.

Still tipping the cats of course, but not feeling as confident as some.

Hi people.....am up on the GC and going to the game tonight, but luckily have local knowledge about transport etc....

I urge you all to read the thread "parking at the game" on the GC board...if you know anyone who is up here and hoping (expecting) to get to the game easily, please warn them that will most likely not be the case..

Its going to be a complete shermozzle!!....unbelievable actually!..we have had to change our plans for getting to the game...not happy jan!

I also urge every person who has taken the trouble to fly up to complain bitterly to all and sundry when they get home!..

The game itself and facilities should be 1st rate.....but thats irrelevant if people struggle to get to the ground!

good luck Cats!:)

Will there be anywhere online we can watch this. Adelaide channels arent showing it due to the shitty port game. Am annoyed cause rather see how ablett gets treated :p

Comparisons with previous expansion teams are laughable. Never before has a new team had so many young players, in a few years they will be a force but for now our bigger bodies should monster them. Comfortable win coming up.

Am supposed to be there...but as restoring my car and unexpected bills passed on tickets to Silverado fom here. Have three mates up there, hence other tickets to Silverado.......anyway.......made contact with both parties and it's alive with so many Cat supporters on Gold Coast, they are amazed. Everywhere is blue and white hoops......would love to be there.....the build up around town there is buzzing.

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsu:...hopefully its not to much of a hassle for the away fans, sounds a bit like AAMI stadium which is a shocker in terms of getting to and from.

Weakest reply ever.

You are not wrong!....we went to Seaworld yesterday, and I swear half of Geelong was there!!...

As you say, a real buzz about the place up here...thats why I'm so worried about the getting to and from the stadium...has the potential to spoil what should be a brilliant game and opening for the Suns and their home ground..

yeah, have constant communication with them....and they say plan to get to the ground earlier as transport is going to be a bit of a challenge.

Mate just called again......half of Geeong is there or those from there that moved there are out and about....they are having a ball.....game only 5+hours....Go Cats!!

I agree with you bullet...Hawkins is just an easy target. If you look at games closely, he does his bit.

He deserves his place IMO.

Think the only reason he's an "easy target" is simply becaues he's not performing, agree that he does some good things at ground level at times, but really think he's getting a game only because we need a second ruck and he's been the only option.

"If" Vardy kicks on from here reckon Tom may find himself in a spot of bother.

Anyway as for the game tonight I can't believe some are actually picking the Suns [ taking the p**s surely ] the only way we lose this is if we can't find our way to the stadium.

What happened in 1987, 1991, and 1995 has no relevance on this match up whatsoever.
