Happy with who we brought in but would have preferred we left out Appleby rather than Murray. Like his pace coming off half back.
I noticed Varcoe listed off half back on the team sheet so maybe he will play down there in his place?
Wrapt to see Daicos in and like having Reid back in to work in tandem with Cox.
Greenwood could play a tagging role or a defensive role on one of the Dogs hard running half backs...

How I would like to see us line up:

B - Langdon Dunn Howe
HB - Varcoe Sharenberg Crisp
C - Phillips Pendlebury Sidebottom
HF - WHE Reid DeGoey
F - Thomas Cox Stephenson
R - Grundy Adams Treloar
INT - Greenwood Daicos Mayne Appleby

Highly doubt that given we have Appleby who is pretty much a pure defender and Greenwood who has played all his footy this season at HB both sitting on the bench.

This game could very easily go either way and will be tight for much of the game with quite a few lead changes. Hopefully we're in front when it counts.

Doggies form has been inconsistent this year but they were the better team for much of the game at AO against the Crows last week. Just couldn't hit the scoreboard. Hopefully similar yips tonight.

Our defence also isnt that slow, in a recent article i read about every clubs fastest players and endurance kings Howe was 2nd for fastest speed clocked this year behind WHE and ahead of Stephenson.

Also Langdon isn't slow which even shocked me! I was at the game last week he has great closing speed, he just appears slow i think because maybe his decision making? Dunno

Crisp we know has speed as well, not to sure on Appleby haven't seen enough of him yet.

The football is his kryptonite. He's lightning when he isn't touching the footy, but put that thing in his hands and he moves like me.

I reckon it'll be embarrassing if we lose this based on the above. And that's without Wells in to push up our averages even further.

Really interested to see Greenwood's role tonight.

Everyone thinks he is in to tag Macrae. I don't necessarily agree. He hasn't played midfield at VFL level, and has been playing more as a half back. So I can't see him coming in and tagging the best midfielder in the comp statistically right now. Especially since we have dropped Murray, and seemingly not called up a defender in his place...which compounds the loss of Maynard.

We have clearly been exposed at ground level in our defensive 50. I get the feeling Greenwood will be used as a defensive stopper. He obviously knows how to defend and is solid overhead. The concern is his footskills.

Maybe I'm overthinking it and he'll simply tag. Will be interesting

Wouldn't be terribly surprised if Varcoe went back and Greenwood took Varcoe's position up forward, either. Both are high pressure players and Varcoe is quick just like Murray. Only difference is Varcoe is a better kick and decision maker.

I was thinking along the same lines. Greenwood is a wiley HF and can pinch-hit at stoppages where necessary. Literally pinch-hit probably. Having Varcoe on HB gives us something near Murray's pace but also provides a little more poise.

A pity because Varcoe is WHE's main link-up man. We have to get him to 1 goal every game this year :D

Okay, must win as today is my birthday! Early dinner at Docklands then Medallion Club seats for a good win!

Sidey BOG - best present.:)

Happy birthday Maggie, no better present than a Pies win.

Greenwood to tag Johannisen possibly who is due for a breakout game. His disposals are normally more effective than Macrae's. Howe looked very proppy towards end of Saints Game. How(e) did he train this week? No late change for Murray hopefully.

Hoping the inclusion of Reid means mason sets up deeper rekin roughhead will get him

Thinking the dogs are a bit big and we have forced em to go that way to their detriment

Trengrovre will take Reid and ruck once Boyd gets cut up with his lack of physicallity will have to take Grundy leaving Reid a chance to get a couple

Thinking a big win tonight with far too many options for the dogs to cover

Daicos will snag a couple

Cox 4 de goey 3 Thomas WHE daicos Stephenson Reid 2 pendels Adams treleor mayne 1

Pies 21 . 14. To dog 8 . 13

Balance that with him being a poorer defender and shocking above his head.

Greenwood is one of our best runners and a good mark (?). I would have thought he’d come in for Mayne when he came back in the team but curious to see how he goes down back (if that’s where he’s actually playing)

I reckon they'll start with Trengove and Cordy in the KPD posts pretty much as named, Roughy in the ruck.

I wouldn't be under-estimating Boyd as the 2nd ruck either, pretty sure his numbers stack up better than Cox's YTD.

Not too much difference in the height aspects so not sure how you get to the assumption they're a bit big, if anything, I'd be concerned about their pacey smalls.

Doubt there'll be too much in the result but I'll hope for a win and FFS surely we're due for no injuries.

the trouble with that is his disposal is so genuinely terrible. If I was a bulldog forward and saw the ball in Levis hands id head straight to the goalsquare waiting for the turnover to end up out the back for a gimme and it would happen 50% of the time he tries to kick off half back. we cant afford that.
