I'd hate to be part of a hoodoo triangle with Cats, Hawks...

Pies > Cats
Cats > Hawks
Hawks > Pies

With that said... Watch Cats win their match against Pies next...

Made a lot of crucial mistakes from senior players. That should not be happening with a team like Pies. Very disappointing.

Hawks killed it when the game was up in the balance. Top side.

And N9 ump can go **** himself.

Clutching at straws here, but we also lost to the beaten Grand Finalist (St Kilda) in 2010. Same round and were 2-1. Losing margin was less but still large in the context of that game.

Some people on here need to be able to discuss flaws and weaknesses, this performance is pathetic and simply not acceptable
Pathetic too strong a word, when did you last play at this level?

Still struggling to understand why Frost was subbed instead of Reid. Reid could hardly muster up running pace yet a perfectly fine Frost is made to get out of the game.

Fas was very good once on the ground.

We NEED our forwards to kick goals. Sinclair, Goldsack? Missing. We need to get Fasolo in there for Sinclair ASAP.

Russell and Johnson. Both were liabilities to our defense. How are we supposed to run on Brown, Toovey, occasionally Shaw & O'Brien and a 1 legged Reid. We really don't have any senior listed options for this spot. Potentially push Shaw as a full time defender and drop one of Russell or Johnson.

Hudson was magnificent, very good first impression from the beard. Will genuinely push Jolly for that #1 ruck spot I feel.

Midfield needs to lift - although we were undermanned there with Pendles not the same after an early hip concern and Daisy playing predominantly forward with rotations in the middle.

We ran out of legs there fair and simple, possibly we just kept some in the tank coming in to the 6 day break once we realised the game was done. Hopefully we can take that first quarter performance and make that performance standard across all four quarters. The signs were definately there early. Just injurys to keys and bad luck/poor kicking stood in our way.

We're never going to come close to beating Hawthorn without a full outfit on the ground.

Our depth proves good against the mid-tier sides like Carlton and North, but we need our best players on the ground if we're to have a chance against the top sides like Hawthorn.

When Jolly gets back I'd make Hudson permanent backup...
Make Lynch permanent forward...

When they all play the same game.

But with Hudson showing up... Pies can rest Jolly a lot. And vice versa with Hudson.

Also blood Witts with either one of Hudson and Jolly when both aren't playing.

Reid was clearly not 100% after his leg injury, looked hesitant and unsure with his movement all day. Sad that we capitulated like we did, but we still have a lot of players out. I'm not too worried, just need to move on from here. We must win against Richmond next week.

Same pattern as the QF against Hawthorn last year, really. We stay competitive early, forwards get on top, but let ourselves down just before half-time and get blown away in the second half.

In both cases, our midfield gets dominated in the second half and the lack of accountability from our mids and lack of big bodies at the stoppages gets exposed.

Ball will help, but Swan really needs to lift his defensive game. You can't get away with it against a good side.

Um... but then we lose a midfielder for 2 permanent ruckman....

Yep, would prefer Shaw back, regardless of the opposition.

Could have done with another mid in the rotation today. But until Bally is up to speed [which could be a while yet], we need more accountability from our mids against the best.

Harry O reported for rough conduct in the second quarter. Anyone remember this incident?

Hodge I think it was who slid in and Harry gave away a free kick for too high. Should've actually been a free kick the other way as the replay showed Harry didn't make any high contact. He'll be fine.

Agree, I thought the logical move was to sub Reid for Fas. Obviously not...

Agree, he's been as defensive this year as Didak.

Agree swan hasn't been accountable for his man at all and effective tackles are non existent.

Defensive midfield aspect should return when Beamer and ball do. But who knows when that will happen.

Though shaw become more petulant as the game wore on. As much unashamed basher of Maxxy I do think his leadership and direction was missed down back.

Sinclair has to go as well. Now that Elliot has taken off and with fas back we need more someone who also looks dangerous. Maybe krak? Although wish we could pick Martin to play a forward role.

Also when did dropping the ball (improper disposal) get scratched from the rule book?

Our senior players have failed to fire for the third week in a row. Pendles was well below par, as was Swan. Daisy needs a couple more weeks. Fasolo in for Sinclair. Who can replace Johnson? The reality is; hawthorn has our measure, and has had it for as long as I care to remember.
Bring on the tigers!!!
GO PIES!!
