Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

Nah, I reckon in his heart of hearts Mick would want us and Bucks to do well.

Sure, he might be sensitive about protecting his legacy, and he might be fighting a few old battles in his head with Eddie, but that doesn't mean that he's bitter and twisted.

Hey Ipswich, were you at the game last night? Just saw the replay - a big thumbs up for the Collingwood chant going around the GABBA in the last quarter!
No mate had a prior long term commitment Nephews wedding but yes it was good to hear the chant and from what I can gather from people who went Pies fans out numbered Lions by a fair margin.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

The only thing i am worried about with cats is potential key position matchups. Who gets hawkins as i don't think Reid or Keefe are the right type of big bodied defender for him. Brown would have been perfect. Not that worried about pods. Also harry Taylor seems to mark up on cloke well in the past. Hopefully cloke has something up his sleeve. Probably lonegan(sp) goes to Dawes.

Hence i have an idea. We play both wood and jolly.Wood as first ruck against west and jolly up forward. That would screw geelong defensive structure and maybe make scarlett accountable.thoughts?

The bloke we have to shut down is Steve Johnson and i would give tooves the job as Johnson is also spending time in the midfield this year and tooves could go with him. Please don't put harry on Johnson.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

I'd love to see Bucks throw down the challenge to Harry & Reidy to play on both Johnson & Hawkins respectively.

I think Lonergan will stand Cloke and you are right about the Brown hawkins matchup,I have been worried about Obrien,s defensive frailties all year and if we had not had so many injuries I would have sent back to the 2,s but with all the injuries we have had no chance to do it.

I am not sure we can go in with both Jolly and Wood also Dawes coming back,Keeffe will go back and Probably Reid will stand Hawkins but you are right Brown was the one for Hawkins.

One observation I will make about the Cats this year is that they are in no position now to be able to rest players this season and they may well be under the pump later in the season, they are actually traveling much worse than we are and they have had far fewer injuries.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

bad week to lose Rambo as i had him pencilled in to go 1 on 1 with big Hawkins. Reid getsa the chance now to settle the score somewhat

Ins: Thomas, Dawes
Outs: Yags, Brown

Dont think theres any more changes that NEED to be made at this point. Wood hasnt been terrible enough to be dropped

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

B: Toovey, Keeffe, Maxwell
HB: Clarke, Reid, O'Brien
C: Pendlebury, Beams, Sidebottom
HF: Shaw, Cloke, Didak
F: Sinclair, Goldsack, Jolly
Foll: Wood, Blair, Swan
Int: Thomas, Buckley, Wellingham, Seedsman(Sub)
Emerg: Dawes, Fasolo, Paine

That line up looks juicy, Play Goldsack as a true FF and have Jolly down forward taking the f50 hitouts but not as the main ruckman.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

I would like to see mooney in as the sub at the expense of yagmoor.
In Thomas Dawes jolly mooney
Out seedsman brown wood yags

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

Goldsack to keep Scarlett honest and siclair to enright as well. Shaw to take sj

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

I would say the way Bucks is coaching that Goldy would play a defensive role on Scarlett. Typically Harry goes to Stevie J. and that seems sound, Harry looks like he's in good touch.
I have no problem with an uninjured Reid standing either Pods or Hawkins, same with Keefe, probably Keefe to Hawkins as Reid can attack Pods more.

You can see Geelong are going to get a media smacking all week and bring their A-effort this week so we'd better be sharp.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

Lonergan will probably go to Cloke after last year's GF. Hopefully Reid can take Hawkins, Keeffe has performed admirably all year so he might go to Pods. Harry has done well on Stevie J in the past so might go to him, he is starting to get a little bit of form back.

Also heard on Game Day this morning Scarlett might not be back? If he is then Goldsack the obvious matchup.

Agree that the timing was bad with Browny going down but hopefully he's not out for too long. Anyone know how far away Tarrant is?

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

Playing Wood and Jolly in the same team is a watse of a player. One or the other for mine. Use that extra player to rotate the mids and give them a spell.

I noticed alot of people put dawes to come back in. I reckon we give him a spell and leave goldsack in and bring in marley and thomas.
Dawes hasnt been crash hot against the bottom teams let alone geelong. I say we give him some confidence back in the twos for a week?

That's never going to happen unless Bucks is on a dare.

Re: Changes and Chat for RD 8 vs Cats

Hear that Jolly won't be available for selection this Friday night anyway, knee tendinitis worse then first thought, so another week or 2 away.

Ins: Thomas, Dawes

Out: Brown (inj), Yagmoor

Dark horse: Williams- Pies keen to elevate him off the rookie list, but have been holding back, could be this week.

Tarrant is playing VFL this week :)

Re: AFL Rd 8 - Collingwood v Geelong - MCG - Friday 18/5 7.50 pm

Be a big game for whoever gets Hawkins, give Reid a chance to settle the score early on and if that doesn't work then we might give Keeffe a go. Tarrant and Brown would have been better options as they are suited to the bigger bodied players but you can only work with what you've got.

Hopefully our whole Summer was dedicated to working out ways of beating these bastards, we really need to notch up a win against them after they had the wood on us last year. We could even help put them out of top four contention if we thrash them.

Dawes comes in to stretch the Geelong defence but he needs to put in a big performance.

In: Thomas (yay) Dawes
Out: Brown :)() Yagmoor

Give Jolly as long as he needs.

Re: AFL Rd 8 - Collingwood v Geelong - MCG - Friday 18/5 7.50 pm

i wanna see scarlett stretchered off friday night, and i dont want any of you saying, wow thats disrespectful, dont say that and all that crap.
he has no sympathy for us, we have no sympathy for him:thumbsu:

Re: AFL Rd 8 - Collingwood v Geelong - MCG - Friday 18/5 7.50 pm

Seeing Dawes reaction to the gf loss last year, i reckon he wants this win as much as anyone on our list
I just have a feeling he is out to have a blinder this week. We need as many experienced and big bodied. players as possible. this week so Dawes is a definite in. Also probably means marley Williams no chance yet.

You mean Selwood, and it has to be for his ducking and he doesn't geta free kick either the cheat

Re: AFL Rd 8 - Collingwood v Geelong - MCG - Friday 18/5 7.50 pm

I mean this with no malice, selwood will probably put himself into a wheel chair or end up with some kind of brain damage.

There was one game this year where he just went nuts (vs Hawthorn I think) and got concussed what seemed like about 3 times, and had his head bandaged and was bleeding almost non stop, it was just crazy stuff.

But that's what happens when you lead with the head, and are not actually concerned at all for your safety.

I've seen some crazy courageous players in my time, Gavin Brown comes to mind, but no one as kamikaze as him, someone has to tell him to turn the body a bit, because his head first attacking technique will lead to major life long problems.
