I don't even know who they are. All I know is that Ball, Sidebottom and Obree will break the lines and tear them to shreds.

How quick is quick if you don't know who your competing against!?

Harry Taylor and Matty Scarlet say hello too......if you can read the play you don't need to be able to win a gold medal in the 100m.......

Whoever they are, they won't be catching our superior athletes!

But you went to a Collingwood V North game and would go to a GF involving Collingwood?

Closet supporter imo.

Nah. went to the north game because it had been 10 years. Thought maybe I had been too hasty and it was with mates at an impartial game.
Dumb decision.

I would consider going to a GF. But I doubt I would go.
Didn't go to the last 3 !!

ball breaks the lines??

when was the last time he broke a line and took a running bounce..?

im more concerned about beams than ball

Round 5, 2003.

But he doesn't need to have running bounces, his first few steps are quick enough to have the opposition clueless and disoriented. Beams is pretty good, I'll give you that. Better than Selwood anyway.

You are female, yes?

Should be a good game, looking forward to it

Errr...Wojinski, Byrnes, Varcoe, Hogan, Ablett all say a big speedy hello.
Your "pace" got you nowhere last year, and I can't see you've added any this year.
You should be concerned at your medium forwards' and on-ballers' inability to perform against us when it matters.

Medhurst, Neon Leon, Didak ...... the only thing keeping them on the ground in the prelim was the fence ..... otherwise they would have contributed just as much from row 5 seat 13 where I was.

I seriously can't see where the Pies added pace - Ball and Jolly are the only 'new faces' .... neither of which are fast. Ball runs up and down on the one spot and can't kick over a jam tin - plays tough but basically he's a poor mans Joel Selwood. As for Jolly - hardly an Ottens type who will tear you to pieces and influence a big final in September. Pendlebury missed the prelim and he's not quick either ???

This time we have a fit Stevie J who would more than cancel out any major upside the Pies reckon they've got.

But then again - it is May and from all the hype I'm assuming it must be when the Pies think they hand out premiership medals .... or am I missing something.

is that pic from the special Olympics ?

The only thing missing from this pic is Didak being chased by a couple of coppers after hanging in the hood with Shaw and some of his A Grade mates. Guns blazing and smiling through that black and white mouthguard that just says 'here's the target now see how hard you can belt the living suitcase out of me' ......

This could present an opportunity for Cam Mooney to celebrate his 200th in fine style ........ win lose or draw, Didak belted into the top deck of the Olympic stand could be the highlight of the night.

In the event confusion - please note - I don't like Didak.

Jumping Jack, I don't really think we've added much pace at all. I can't remember our PF side, but I think most of our quick players were on the field.

I do think that our quick players are having more of an influence this year though. Thomas, Johnson and Wellingham are all having career best years where they're getting a lot more of the ball. But generally, I'd say you're the quicker side.

We should be more competitive in the stoppages. Jolly should give us the upper hand in the ruck, while Ball, Pendlebury [didn't play prelim] and a totally new version of Wellingham should really bolster our clearance stocks. Don't think we will be able to contain Chapman... again... nor Ablett... again... but I think we'll be far more competitive than last year. Not because of our pace, just because we're a far better side than last year. Should be a great game!

Why? Why not play a strong side and hopefully give Melbourne an absolute belting?

Now that we have a great side, and great players (ie Chappy), I actually like them playing when they're fit. Especially when he's in career-best form.

I agree.

Although, if round 13-14 last year is any indication of what happens after big matches, we might have a few missing next week.

Anyway, let's go hard and beat the Pies on friday night.

Re: Is this weeks game a home game?

I don't need to get a ticket for this if i'm a 17 game member though do i?

No but rock up early. Usually when I use my 17 game to sit free in level 4, getting there 30-40 mins before the bounce ensures a decent seat, but given there'll probably be 90k odd on friday night, you'd want to rock up well before that (i.e. very very early) unless you like the nose bleeds (I don't, but each to their own).

Now that's a good post.
Your others were crap though

Hey guys, I am a Melbourne member and was just wondering how early I should get the G for general admission. I guess pretty early because its the Pies home game?

It's going to be a long week at work and am really looking forward to Friday.

Cheers

Gates open at 5.30 FYI.

I would be booking my ticket for piece of mind. AFL members is close to selling out and the amount of Media attention this game will get this week will have people getting tickets through the week. Dont risk it.

Geelong V Collingwood-Match ups

Massive, massive game this one coming up and i am very keen for Friday night to get here! This match will give all football lovers a bigger insight into who could go further in September and deserves that Premiership Favouritism. I personally believe Collingwoods personnel can finally get them a flag this year, i have backed them to win it since the end of last season and am staying with that tip. They have a great list with many underrated players, great young kids coming through, a dangerous forward line and a backline that doesn't get the respect it deserves. Geelong are a fantastic outfit and have been for some time now. Will be compared to the lions of 01-04 if they can win this years flag stamping themselves as a champion team. Personally im tipping these two to play of on the biggest stage of them all later on in September but this match will give us a great understanding on where both teams are at.

So, after all that dribble what are the likely match ups we should be expecting for Friday Night?

Well actually I'm ok because I'm going MCC with friends so the booking is well and truly done.

But yes you are right. Peace of mind is good, so booking is not a bad idea this week.
