Looks like dodo shat the bed on Massimo posturing, Hawks can walk him free on that rookie clause if we don't accept their pick, it's 66 or nothing, dosent even bump them off the preseason draft order either

Hasn’t really shat the bed when pick 66 essentially equals nothing for us anyway.

Huh? We offered him a contract and he’s not done with his 3 years, no DFA for him. Is there some other clause I’m forgetting?

Phil taking the piss saying he’s in fhe 45-50 range. I’m not a fan of ginnivan but he’s a late 2nd. Davis might have the worst takes of anyone I’ve ever heard working in the afl media (former players wise)
So he’s about pick 35 in your opinion, and Phil says 45-50? Not a huge gap in estimates when you consider 45 would come in about 10 spots after bid matching.

That’s kinda funny. So if he accepts the rookie deal and is then upgraded to our senior list in the future he wouldn’t become a free agent for like 6 more years, but he can nope an offer after 15 months on an AFL list and walk where he wants 😂

I’ve always said he’s not worth much anyway, so no big deal, but goodness that’s a bit odd.

Seems a bit shitty for us?

17 pick upgrade into the second round for what would be (based on this year's ladder positions) a 17 pick downgrade into the 4th round next year.

Gives us another moving part to try and trade up or to use it to flick around pieces in the Zerk/Duursma swap. That sweetener may end up being we drop 35 to 41?

In isolation, that seems terrible. Maybe Port want more and we've gone and got it for them. I dunno.
Why?

Worst case possible (we finish last and the Dogs finish first next season)

We give up 52 (now) and 39 (2024) for 35 (now) and 74 (2024)

If the ladder stays stable

We give up 52 (now) and 46 (2024) for 35 (now) and 66 (2024)
That is awful when you put it like that.

Why? Basically we trade up 10 spots into an actual draft pick that will be used this year for downgrading a pick we are never going to use next year along with a pick this year we were never going to use.

Dodoro the king again

Weird.
The work of AFLPA advocacy?

And best case scenario:

We give up 52 (now) and 54 (2024) for 35 (now) and 55 (2024).

Huge win!
