I try so hard to ignore idiots like Aker and Caro, but this forum gives them credibility. I don't have to buy their paper, everything they say is printed in here!!!
Bloody hell, the media's such an incestuous pot of bullshit. Aker needs limelight to be relevant, Caro needs bullshit to be relevant. Aker says something in private (near enough), but Caro reports it, making Aker & Caro both relevant. Did Aker tip Caro off about what he said so she'd report it? Put both of them into a sack with a few heavy rocks and drop them into the bay.

It's more than likely due to the percentages that there are players that are on the gear adn players taht are gay, but unless Caro is going to start printing names and putting her balls on the table she should shut the f#ck up.

Why do people actually bother with this?
My take on it as follows:
Aker is the new sam newman - he has to keep his persona "on stage" to maintain the income. His schtick is sensational and controversial subjects relating to football. The two most controversial subjects are drugs and homosexuality. Thus, his comments are carefully crafted, and sufficiently ambiguous, to produce exactly the result that has been produced. He is not stupid, he knows exactly what he is doing, and exactly the effect it will have.
Caro is the Caro we all know and love - she knows exactly what's going on; knows she has to write a certain number of articles per week; and knows which subjects sell more nespapers than others. Her article is similarly carefully crafted, and sufficiently vague to get no-one into trouble. BUT, she ensures that this matter will have legs, and will produce quite a few more articles before its finished.
How to stop it? Don't support Sportsmans Nights/Luncheons etc. Don't buy newspapers/watch footy chat shows. Simple!
And lets not get silly about this - there are plenty of rumours out there about both drugs and homosexuality. I am well out of the loop but attend one game per year with a group of long-established friends. at this years game two odf those friends both came up with the same rumour of a leading player being gay. Are they right? wouldn't have a clue, and don't actually care, but if I am hearing one, then those actually interested, and digging, will have heard many more.

seems like a beat-up of a few offhanded comments made by a disgruntled ex-footballer.
IMHO this is all about the Age wanting to come out with stories that make Aker, who writes for the Hun, look like an idiot. If they can get people to hate Aker and stop reding his column in a rival paper they're happy.
Ever noticed how ACA (channel 9) come out with stories about Kyle Sandilands, who stars on a channel 7 show. If they can make people turn off his show on channel 7 it's a win for them. Same thing

The Age should be embarresed that they hire Caro as the "Chief Football Writer". She rarelt writs articles about the game. She is far more interested in the off field affairs of both clubs and players and is like a dog with a bone when she gets hold of a story. This article is rubbish, so bloody what if Aker has said this guy might be gay, or this guy might be on drugs. It is only rumour and his opinion anyway. Surely most people can filter what he says and pick out what is truth and what is hearsay. Unfortunately idiots like Caro treat everything he says as gospel truth and find the need to write about it.

The comment was made at a dinner table after he was asked a question by a person sitting at the table. What is he not allowed to speak now - is that what you are suggesting.
Talking of tossbags - you have a profile picture of a woman you neither are, could get or even afford so maybe you are the "complete tossbag" - it is a world where people love projecting their insecurites on to others.
It is easy to sit on your keyboard and criticise Aker without the facts, a lot harder to play 300+ games, win a brownlow, three premierships, do media work (he doesn't have to blog for free), and have a beautiful wife and kids.

There was nothing mentioned about the drug taking during this part of the day but I can confirm he did name 4 players and officials at another stage,(all bulldogs involved).
Now the gay thing I can confirm but it was a yes/no answer,I actually asked him if a certain player was a gay and aka said yes, no more said about the issue. I can confrim it's not a bulldogs player
