Der Brain Russell saying why haven’t North got a coach yet and have they even got a recruiting department. He’s going to look pretty stupid soon.
Well history suggests that if you're a gun Coach you don't need a recruiting department. After RDB was appointed in the summer of 1972 - we had to padlock the gates in Fogarty Street to keep opposition players out such was the rush.

Related, which won't appease most of the speculators in here.

I was told this morning that Clarkson advised GWS during their recent meeting that he will not be considering and/or committing to any future endeavours until the outcome of Tasmania's license bid is known..!
Given his involvement with the bid, this is likely closer to fact than rumour - and it may also be the reason he is yet to formally meet with the Roos..?

If so, that's months away I would think.

Is the delay in the assembly of the supporting coaches and football department structure? It make sense that what gets announced next is the Coach and some acknowledgment of what comes next from the Walsh review.

The intangible that would be brought with Clarkson is significant.

Thinking over the last 5+ years we have not been seen as anything like a destination club for anyone other than players who were somewhat broken and seeking a fresh start. We never got top tear talent over the line and even from an assistant point of view we haven't really attracted the higher rated former players (that is not to say I don't value everyone who has come).

We sign Clarkson and that changes in an instant. More players will want to come as will more assistants.

TBH some of this would also change if we signed Lyon.

My feeling has always been it is us or Tassie.

Sadly for Tassie I suspect the outcome of the vote is going to be unanimous to bring in a Tassie team, as Gil wants.

But not til like 2030 ... to get the stadium ready blah blah.

Classic AFL fudge, and means Clarko at Arden Streeet next year.

I appreciate the angle but I don't really see the relevance... he's just on the taskforce, he's not tapped up to coach them or anything. If he had ties even as Tasmanian I could buy that more. If he's on record as saying he wants to coach next year why would Tasmania come into play?

Told by who - I’d suggest you check your source - it’s not what I’ve heard. It was a flat NO to GWS and Tassie had got nothing to do with it.

Its no secret he loves the idea of building the AFL Green Bay Packers in Tassie.

Job is his if the Tassie team gets the go ahead.

Is why we're in a win/win scenario.

Even if we miss Clarko, it means we've avoided relocation again.

And then there's the win/win/win scenario where we get Clarko and avoid relocation.

The way the AFL told GWS to ditch their dumb ambassador money scam straight after he met with them suggests he did indeed tell them to FRO.

He would need to be polite re Tassie given his formal involvement there.

Tbh I reckon we're waiting weeks for a formal announcement if we have him - which I believe we do.

We are not being relocated regardless - that ship sailed 15 years ago - there is no reason off field to send us there and you don’t relocate a team because it’s had a couple of bad on field years. Oh and it requires a membership vote which will NEVER get up.

Yes one would think so, can't be any other reason. ITK have stated here it is happening and it always happens, never has it not happened.
I remember baking a welcome Kelly cake and rushing to Arden St with it. A Gaff cookie and a Martin milkshake.

I was out just before listening to BABBA at the Monash Caulfield campus. And a woman requested a song, she made the sign of a teaspoon and I made a sign of a wave.
Now she had diamonds on the soles of her shoes. Now there is another song, you can call me Al. It doesn't take a genius to work out what just happened.

Yes that was Mrs Al and she has purchased diamonds for her shoes. Where.Did.She.Get.The.Money.For.That?

Ponder that shit.

So stick that in ya pipe Mr deanc

All the leaks are coming from GWS and are pretty self-serving (and fair enough). Not sure how it becomes closer to fact than rumour just because he has also been working with the Tassie bid, but if there’s anything in this angle it may be aimed at putting a bit more pressure on the AFL over the decision.

I know, but it'll be nice just having that angle blocked off once and for all.

But I'm not sure voting on what. Might be to go ahead in principle, but it wont happen for a few years.

Yep, reckon that's what happens.

18 clubs vote in favour of a Tassie team but without any legally binding commitment it will happen.

Tres AFL.

I have a conspiracy theory that the conversation with GWS is where the $1.6m came from.

The conversation being that, that was the level of cash required to get him to move there. It makes that Ambassador thing make sense and it makes the figure seem more reasonable, especially where part of it would have been paid outside of the soft cap.

But this is just me in tin foil.

He'll need to tread carefully with Tassie if and when it gets kicked into the long grass.

He's also still contracted to Hawthorn right now lol.

Reckon folks need to hold off on buying the celebration piss for a while yet.

Bye week before finals is most likely imo - is when I'd announce if I were running it.
