Whispers from my source say Clarko may have told GWS no - waiting for more confirmation.
Also backing up comments from scottywiper and themanbun - don’t believe everything you read - we’ve met with him and his manager on multiple occasions (at least 3 possibly 4 times) - we are still in front here given the verbal agreement. Now you can criticize me all you want but that has been my info all along so I’m just repeating what Ive been told. You will now notice the media have jumped on this today following Barrett and McGuire spilling the beans. Until then the club had kept this quiet. Now we have the usual suspects trying to sabotage - hence don’t believe everything you read.
That’s all I have for now.
Mate I have saddled up and am trotting along somewhere in the echelon of folk quite happy to believe you. But I am wondering, do you get tired of folk whispering? Bloody speak up! Also, why do you squint your eyes when you're trying to hear somebody whispering? Well, not just you, most of us. Even my old nana would

Do you mean a complete embarrassment Unc like Dermott Brereton turning us down in 1993 and us then handing the keys to Denis Pagan?

Clarko is no Brereton. If this bid fails due to us not agreeing on some aspect around the personnel, we might regret it later. The fact is that our footy operations have been a mess for a while now. Giving someone like Clarko the chance to rebuild them from ground up wouldn’t be the worst thing we could do.

Or like 2009 when Buckley turned us down and we got Scott?

Or 2019 when Longmire turned us down and we got Shaw?

Am I doing this right?

Just saw Clarko lean out of the driver's side window and make the injecting gesture at a little kid in an Essendon jumper walking on the footpath.

Happened on Epsom Road heading toward the city (Arden Street!!!!!) just now.

He's coming home folks.

A large part of me wishes that was true.

I find it interesting Clarko wants to know who would replace Tony Shepherd as GWS Chair.

Noting GWS's CEO is also applying for the AFL job.

I know people here want to pot Amarfio basically because ... reasons ... and the idiot board challengers haven't fully dropped off yet.

But GWS are not stable long term off field.

What's their answer to who replaces Shepherd?

Likely, ah, we have NFI.

Mark Brayshaws perhaps?

I'm trying to be funny here folks. Obviously, it wasn't the least bit funny but at least I'm trying.

It said he ''presented'' to GWS in this fourth meeting...hopefully just ralphy talking s**t.
I hope we know either way soon so we can move on to plan B if needed.

I think it’s important we remember that Clarkson is applying for jobs. Him presenting to GWS is a nothing statement, GWS are the ones interviewing him and not vice versa. When he meets us again part of what they’re nutting out is how his philosophies and view of the list match to ours. He needs to present his version of that.

There’s probably also a public view that needs to be quashed on us being “all in” - we’re just talking to him exclusively, he’s the priority for discussions but if the philosophies don’t marry or the demands are unachievable then we can say no as well. When you’re looking for work you don’t skip interviews because the vibe at the other place was “pretty comfortable”.

Western Sydney pretty sorted for industrial level weed growers.

We need to start planning for a future without Clarksons. Not that it's a certainly we won't get him, but that if he does turn to the dark side than we need to be ready.

The problem we have comparing 2022/23 to 1993 is that Denis Pagan inherited a side with a once-in-a-life time (not generation, life time) CHF freak like no one had ever seen before and organised his whole game-plan around, a Ruckman who played like a 5th midfielder who won a Brownlow but was robbed of it, a midfield squadron of incredible ball winners with a mixture of hardness and sublime skills, a backman that became Shinboner of the Century and a herd of ultimate role players to supplement the side in whichever area was needed. We’ll be lucky to ever see that assembled in any team across the AFL - let alone our own club ever again.

Whoever inherits this list has a handful of very good players, a sprinkle of above average players and the rest bog average players. It’s not great..

So getting Yze, Pike, Etc will probably have the same affect as Noble, they don’t have the street cred yet to lure big name FA’s or more importantly to keep potential A grade players like Zurhaar, Thomas and JHF focused on staying, whereas bringing in the best coach of our generation probably will.

I’m not saying Clarko will snap his fingers and we’re magically top 4 and everything is rainbows, we have a lot more pain ahead, but at least someone with his track record and stature will have the media, the players, FA’s, the sponsors, but most importantly the fans looking at the club in a positive light because everyone knows he has a formula for success.

I’m all in for Clarko, because oh my golly if he doesn’t..

Geez this thread's gone to water pretty quickly with news of Clarko heading over the border for a fourth time.

I'm glad the BF crew's not part of the negotiation team. We need to show a bit of spine here folks.

If the great man zigs on us, we'll move on pretty quickly. We always have.

I think we're a solid chance, I think people shouldn't be taking stock in any 'verbal agreement' chat though. Nothing to date has indicated that's a possibility.

I'd like to think Sonja is switched on enough that if she smells any BS from Clarko and/or his manager using us for leverage - they'll be promptly told to GAGF.

Ok. We will do what we said we will do. Coaching panel, interviews.

Yep. World doesn't end if we don't sign him. Just don't let it drag on after this week.

Only embarrassing to a little media click and obsessive BF freaks.

The average north punter will just move on to the next candidate.
Confession: Clarko asked me to sing him Anaconda by Nicki Minaj to him and if he said he liked it he will sign with us, I haven’t heard anything back and it’s been 3 weeks😭

I’m not really to fussed if he comes or not . I just want us to be competitive and win games at the moment. We won’t be on the base for ever .

They are not and that is from a different and very hot source.

Really?

What’s the difference?

If we don’t get him it’s a complete embarrassment

Again

So we should never go for the best, we should just stick to little achievable targets and stay crap forever like St Kilda.

The difference is Clarkson is the best in the game and absolutely has us as one of his top options.

Would he have considered us two years ago? No.
