I think what has happened is McGuire has leaked news from Clarksons manager on Wednesday - until then North have managed to conduct a pretty good covert operation over at least 2 to 3 weeks prior. Once that news broke I’d suggest Sonja Hood has jumped on the front foot and given Barrett some inside info on the basis of 2 things -
1. He reports positively.
2. She gives him the final story first to break.

This tells me we are really close as I’ve said all along it’s just window dressing required.
If Barrett is saying that today it’s news probably fed from the President that it’s close.

If I wanted to pick a journo to report positively and break the story when it happens I probably wouldn’t have picked Barrett. Robbo maybe.

Agree but she’s picked the best way to get the biggest flog on our side and will get the most bang for our buck as she leaks him positive info. So it’s win/win. But I do get your point.

Never forget my old man telling me the story of when he was working at a remote mine site in WA and Acker did a sportsman night.

My OM was the only Lions supporter on site at that time so Acker spent some decent time with him on the sauce. My OM asked him why his media career never took off and he said the industry had it in for him because he was different (it was all a show for the fans) and they didn’t like that.

If anything I'd say this is good. If he's done a 180 from his default position on all things North, surely the most likely reason is because he's being drip fed actual info
