Just getting this in writing early.

Luke Jackson @ pick 3 would be a giant reach for Melbourne. Talented ruckman, but has never played above Colts.
Recruiters are putting WAY too much merit in the idea that his potential is limitless (swapped focus to Football 12 months ago).

Even more boggling that a club with Gawn and Preuss would use pick 3 on a Ruckman in the first place.
The situation reeks of a club trying to make amends for picking Watts over Nic Nat all those years ago.
Trying to correct the Naitanui mistake from ten years ago? Talented raw athletic young ruckman from WA.
But they may err again, Naitanui was the right pick, and, as you point out, Jackson is not.
But it's only Melbourne, who cares?

I get what you’re coming from, but it does mean he can develop in the twos in peace and quiet and not worry about getting monstered at AFL level destroying his confidence.

Can also request a trade to us if he isn’t getting game time 🥰

A couple pages back someone made the point that we already have some kids coming through the ranks to be excited about so being out of the draft in 2019 & 2020 is really no big deal. Absolutely spot on! We have a flag winning list, with some young players to get excited about as well.

I really want to have my cake and eat it too though.
We unearth another diamond in the rough this year and build a frickin dynasty with our up and coming talent plugging the holes for when our current players start to drop off.

Gawn is 28 next month. When you consider that bigger players take longer to develop, it checks out that they'd be in the market for a young Ruckman. Preuss is a spud.

Is Anderson being assumed as no.2 spot as a way of trying to keep Rowell beyond the mandatory 2 years?

I think he was the clear no. 2 anyway, but that logic is why Gold Coast got pick 2 from the AFL.

Eventually both will realise that they can still be best friends and see each other a lot at separate Melbourne clubs though.

Me too.

Perez
Ruscoe
Chergwin
Shute

Any of these players at 46 and I will be pleased.

Then Ben Keays at what ever the second pick number eventually becomes.

Wishful thinking.

Expecting to be disappointed.

But still keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 for a slider at 46.

will be one of these at 46

Don't forget about Sam Philp gaiz

The best player that will be selected outside the top 20 in this draft - would be very happy if we were to gain him tomorrow.

Likewise, if he is available at our selection and we pass him up I shall melt furiously.

THE LATEST WHISPERS
Mitch Cleary is your eyes and ears in the room as the 2019 NAB AFL Draft gets into gear.

The club captains are in position ready to present jumpers to their clubs' new recruits, and Mitch is hearing whispers of the Tigers considering moving pick No.19 out should a suitable deal be found

Pick 19 here we come!

...Me might lose pick 91 though :(

Melbourne feel he can play round 1 as a forward who pinch hits in his develooment years and then take over from Gawn in 2 to 3 years time.

Pruess was and remains backup. It wqs always a strange move him going to Melbourne.

Right folks, last chance. Get all your sweeping statements down now so you brag about them later/hastily delete them and move along. I want to know which 18 year old is a failure or guaranteed star in the next five minutes.

I only wish you all could be as happy as I am when my Jesse Hogan and Melbourne are frauds tirades continually come to fruition.

Yeah he left Norf for more opportunity as he was stuck behind Goldstein, but went to Melbourne who have a ruckman who is better than Goldstein.

Very weird decision.

He’s got at least another 4 years given ruckman tend to play in to their early 30s. Would have thought given Melbourne’s recent history they’d be going for someone a little more ready made
