"Speaks like a politician" is probably reasonable for somebody whose number one job requirement is speaking to politicians (clearly we all agree the CEO has little involvement in the footy side of things, otherwise this thread would be 20 pages longer).

I also recall a complaint about the use of the allegedly highfalutin word "appetite" by Laura Kane in the more robust thread dedicated to her...

Meanwhile viewership (a much more trivial matter) is through the roof.

Does anybody else find this fellow to be extremely slimey and unpleasant?
He somehow manages to be both incredibly boring, yet highly offensive at the same time.
He is a lawyer

Needs significant media training

Yep, I just cannot stand listening to him.
But much prefer listening to him than to Peter "RUGBA LEAGUE" V'Landys.

Dillon was a good 2IC but should never have got the gig as CEO. He just lacks charisma and presence. Gillon oozed charisma, and Demetriou had a presence, IMO

Well, I don't watch Rugby League, so I'm stuck with Dillon. I have serious doubts about Dillon's knowledge of the game which I think is fatal if you are CEO.

At least Gillon played the game albeit Amateurs

He seems to me to be a good listener who is prepared to hear voices to consider a variety of different people and build relationships before rushing into decisions.

For example, invites GAA officials to last year's Grand Final, then for ongoing discussions with them before deciding on the feasibility of reviving the International rules series.

Took the time and the interest to hear from captains of all the clubs in preperation to decide if reviving State of Origin is a goer.

Wasn't tempted into making a big response to the apparent success of the NRL's Las Vegas venture, in contrast to Gil getting spooked by big crowds at the BBL and then kneejerking a half-baked product in AFLX that no one wanted.

Sign of a good leader IMO.
