He was unstoppable in that 2018 preliminary final. Will be remembered for that, if nothing else.

The experiment didn't work our as Collingwood hoped, but he did leave his country/family (and by association his comfortzone) to try his luck with a stange/foreign game to the Yanks. Got to have a degree with of respect for him for doing that and keep on persevering.

Plenty of reasons to dislike Collingwood and their players, Mason is not one of them (and I do think he is probably unfairly maligned by the general AFL community)

The beauty is that we no longer aspire to be at that level. We should be aiming for better than that.

I have never been a fan of the Saints sides in recent years. Felt they've been overrated and have overachieved.
Thought they were better than this though.

But have they? Steele and king are elite and maybe Marshall. Drops away a fair bit after that.

Midfield of Steele. Crouch. Gresham. Ross etc won't scare too may teams. Sinclair finished 2nd in their b & f last year.

They went all in on Hill, hannebury, Howard. Ryder etc a few years back. Paying the price.

Feels like the umpires have softened their stance on the umpire dissent frees since the preseason games. Feel like it's gonna creep back in pretty quickly and then we'll see a "rule of the week" crackdown out of nowhere soon after.
