For an AFL footballer he sure does do a lot of walking, looks like a downhill skier waiting for his chance to glide down the hill.

Mate, he is still a very young kid finding his way in the game.

Gotta take the rough with the smooth with JH-F at this point in time, yes he was ordinary in the first 3 quarters, but without him and his energy and burst in the first 15 mins of the final quarter, Port would not have wrestled back the lead from the Dogs and ultimately won the game.

Yep good on him, but if there is no chance of getting a possession his effort is zilch, I'm not denying he's a good footballer but **** he is lazy.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it would have made for us, and it should be anyone, any time, but I feel Gather Round is a little unfair on us and the Dogs. We were the only 2 clubs who didn't play on a neutral ground. I'm happy we were given the blockbuster opening but the SA derby should have been played this weekend.

Fair last quarter in the wet.
Has Petracca vibes about him. Would be hard carrying his frame around at his age at the elite level.
When he gets his man body and the endurance that comes with it he’s going to be a beast of a footballer
He’s a puppy at the moment, with the physical & mental limitations that youth brings.

What people have to remember is it's 1/23 of our fixture which was rated the 12th easiest. Would people be happier if we played a neutral team this week snd stayed over to play the crows next weekend.

We should have been better prepared than our feeble effort in the first quarter.

Pure and simple.

No excuses for laziness maybe it changes maybe it doesn't we'll have to wait and see on this one.

Definitely an element of unfairness...think the crowd did help Adelaide a bit with gaining momentum and giving extra effort (in addition to our poor play).

What sucks for the Dogs is that they actually have another interstate trip to WA straight after this...that's tough back-to-back.

I feel for the dogs...

just Checked weather app on phone..13 degrees and it’s wet …crowd is doing well hanging in there.

Well worth it. Great game. Well fought contest. May well be the match of the round unless Saints/Filth deliver tomorrow.

Had no idea it had gotten that cold tbh. Thought it was just how wet it was that made me feel that cold.

Haven't been to Melbourne since 2019 or outside of Brisbane until now since then so difficult to say if I've experienced this type of weather since.

When it rains in QLD it feels different - not cold just wet.

same question - is this music being played after goals at every game now?

Yes and in Gather Round to preserve the neutrality of it all after every single goal.

The on going booing of JH-F tonight is spiteful and moronic. I suspect it has been done by Theatre Going Crows fans at the game tonight, not Doggies supporters.

Can tell you with complete honesty that it was done by practically every supporter not wearing Power merch.

He will be booed whenever he's in Melbourne or playing in a "neutral" setting.

Reminds me of the treatment Nathan Buckley got after leaving Brisbane. Booed for several years by many until people got over it.

I'm not hiding from the fact we played very poorly on Thursday night, and I know it's one game. All I'm saying is that it's a bit shit that 14 other teams played on neutral grounds and we didn't. Part of this could have been avoided if the played the derby in Gather Round. Plus it was back to back home games for the Crows.

Also really sucks that the Doggies now need to travel to Perth for a Friday night game.

so are port fans still death riding hinkley?

Didn't hear one negative word about Hinkley at the ground. Given the hate he cops online by their own I was surprised. I heard lots of criticism of players but none of Hinkley.

One of the coaches - not Hinkley - spent part of 3/4 time break giving him and a couple of others a rocket after the team huddle. Marshall was another. All of them respondedm

They were given the Richmond treatment. It's round 5 and the last time they played away from Adelaide Oval was in round one.

They had a home game in round two, the Showdown in round 3 and hosted Dockers last week before Gather Round.

Only two count as home games

You mean if I go to the G or ComicCon the flashing lights and pounding music are after every goal?

that's me out then........

It's increasingly Americanised every year.

More about the song and dance than the sport itself.

FWIW I've noticed the flashing lights to be worse on TV than they are at the ground. On TV it comes across as though it's serious nightclub strobe lighting. It sucks but it's not that epileptic levels bad (thank ****).

that has nothing to do with the game I used to love attending - no pont arguing - it's where things are going and you can't stop it - no consultation with the fans just do what marketers say, pretty grim but I think Ive been to my last game - oh well.........

Simple fact is we should be better as a team right now.

Independent of that, you are spot on about Gather round.
It is nonsense to me that two teams were given a home ground advantage and two the disadvantage but it just some of the stupid things AFL do. Otherwise the concept of the round is a good one but I have no idea why they have to spoil it for two clubs to be disadvantaged. Seemed fairly clear to the idea of the add on round in first place that it either have a Showdown match so no teams with homeground advantage or the two home state clubs play in regional areas of their state so they at least on the road themselves.
I mean it seemed to me the second best option if not doing a Showdown was for Adelaide to play some low drawing club that unlikely to travel in great numbers in somewhere like Barossa Valley or Victor Harbour and Port play another team in Port Augusta or Port Pirie as another alternative. For example Crows v Eagles in Barossa Valley somewhere and Port v Freo at Port Augusta. Then at least they not in their normal homeground and it promote a few of their own fans to go on the road a few hours out of Adelaide as a tourist and also give locals that normally not see AFL a rare bonus.

Hopefully the AFL learn from their mistakes and rectify this and also fix up the Double Header mess too.
