Inglis or just go Wade
Probably not. Sad story of sacrifice. Big decisions have too be made on output. Terrible way to go, That wasnt deservSo they’re not picking the test captain for the ashes?
Well. This aged well. Paine did not read the room and he was setting himself for the 2025 ashes series. He come in at a time they needed a sacrificial lamb. Unfortunately with his known output in question and the fact he is doin the old Healy to Gilchrist sufference ( stating there is no Gilly in the back sheds) it is time to go. Thankyou too him, He lived a dream and captained Aus. It is terrible the way it happened, It is force removal. So they’re not picking the test captain for the ashes?
No. His glovework has improved out of sight from where it once was, but he is still barely a club level keeper.Inglis or just go Wade
Seems like it was bad timing to use this gif...More sexy cricket stats please

Probably Carey ahead of Inglis. Not that either are amazing, but generally competent.
A couple of years back it would have been Piersen. Once Whiteman stopped keeping Jimmy was probably next best. But from the little I've seen he's fallen away.
As for captain, surely too early for Labs. CA won't go back to Smith off the back of a scandal. Which really leaves three of the bowlers, given Starc really should not be sure of a position. Australia doesn't pick bowlers as captains though, Benaud was the last full timer captain to also be a full time bowler.
Surely going from out of the team to captain would be asking too much of Khawaja.
I can see them going Warner, on the basis of "who the fu** else is there?" but he really does come across as being as thick as proverbial pigshit.
Inglis has played more first class matches than Carey tbf and has as many first class hundreds as Paine. He's about as ready as you'd expect someone to be making their Test debut. Is Inglis ready for test cricket though? Or Phillipe?
I like the potential of both however I'm not sure they're ready for test cricket just yet, let alone an Ashes series.
Carey has no form at the worst time. Long earmarked as having next but based off his recent form he in no way deserves a spot.
Wade is perhaps my no.1 choice right now. Kept well in the T20i world cup and isn't overwhelmed by the big moment as he's shown several times. 2 test tons in England last series and getting us home in the world cup. He won't be flustered by coming in last minute.
People talked about Marsh being picked on the back of momentum, well Wade has a bit going for him as well right now.
They have said that Paine may remain as keeper anyway
yeah but if Cummins gets the nod he will have two ex test skippers in the team
for me that would make me very uncomfortable…if Cummins is made captain Paine has to go and I could see them go wade due to his experience for keeper and experience overall to help Cummins
I would love to see Inglis if smith gets made captain they might go josh
Sad thing for Carey is if sandpaper gate never happened, he'd have been Australia's keeper the last three years.Inglis for me. Let’s get some fresh blood in a young guy. Carey is already 30
The issue is. The captaincy locks him in long term ala T.Paine, before we’ve even established if hes capable of holding a spot in the test sideHas done an excellent job captaining the Strikers and the Redbacks when given the opportunity. Has earned his right to wear the gloves in the test team.

I'm guessing the bowler rotation policy now excludes Pat Cummins
Nope. I'm with Chappell on Khawaja.Has to be Usman opening in the first Test, surely?
I'd back him in over the alternatives, even if he hasn't strictly been opening for QLD. He's done it enough before.
Khawaja averages above 40 at Test level. Which of the alternatives could boast that record?Nope. I'm with Chappell on Khawaja.
Time to overlook Usman who has had his chances. Too old to be going back to someone who isn't the answer.
