And this is the reason cricket needs T20 - game over after day 2 (Melbourne was over day 3).

Boring as bat shit and every now and again you get a close result.

Cricket at test level will be lucky to last to 2050.

Reason I like the football (AFL or NFL) - played in any weather conditions.
Cool story mate. Test cricket still far and above the best form of the game.

It's on a downhill slope. Young kids don't want to watch rain delays and bad light delays and people in the crowd moving delays and 4 wickets per day... There's too many great entertainment options nowadays to waste time on that shit. Test Cricket needs to lift its game or it'll be left behind.

Can agree on this.

The wickets need to be more competitive. The first two tests were better than any limited overs game i've seen in 5 years.

Cummins has passed 50 4 times in 40-odd first class innings. Pattinson has done it 5 times in 66.
And he’s never passed 50 at test level, Cummins has done it twice.
Aside from some marginal superiority in averages, I don’t really see how anyone could rate Pattinson higher.
Pattinson has really worked on his batting over the last 12 months due to be injured.

Anyone have an explanation about the science of artificial light 'overtaking' natural light? Obviously this is a matter of degrees (if the rule was artificial aiding natural light in any way, why would you turn them on in the first place?). At what does artificial light move from aiding or complimenting natural light to 'overtaking' it?

Shaun Marsh a lock if both Hussey’s and Mark Waugh’s Ashes team. Are these campaigners serious? Still 2 tests and 6 shield matches before the Ashes squad is annouced. Hardly anyone should be a lock yet.

Was a lock in Warney's and the other commentators team as well (it's odd that I can remember it happened but can't remember if it was Kerry, Gilchrist or BJ - probably should stop huffing paint).

It's bizarre. The bloke's 35 and has averaged 18 in the last 10 tests and has never been that great anyway yet is a consensus pick.

Whenever some old guy at the ICC says so

All the commentators locking him in for the Ashes but at this point Craddock, Haigh and Lalor are all suggesting he will be lucky to be picked to play the SL tests. I don’t know who to believe. I hope the journos are right.

The good sides bat to ensure they don't lose, the great sides risk losing and back themselves in to win by scoring quicker and/or setting smaller targets. I put India in the first category, in both Melbourne and Sydney they batted time to ensure they couldn't lose. Had they taken the game on more like the great Australian sides of the 90's and 00's we may have seen a better game. On the flip side India have won the series, so they've achieved what they wanted and you can't take that success away from them.

They used to talk about shadows, dont know if thats still the case

Yes, bat him at no.7 against Sri Lanka and let him bowl 10 overs. Would be better than M.Marsh in that role. His batting average is 27.6. Sadly, I'm struggling to find a batsman would would actually bat batter. He averaged 49 during his County stint and about 15 with the ball there.

In fairness, Warney said there's no one else, and if there was someone else, Marsh should be dropped.

As do we all.

Let's see if Shaun Marsh can make his obligatory 40 when the game is well and truly over. Never seen a worse batsman in my life.

The Indian series basically ended the career of Finch, and it should have done so for both Marsh's.
Did lead boots raise his bat to the crowd after his 37 today?
