Australia would have still lost in emphatic fashion with "them" still in the side :)
I rarely agree with you Xtreme (Because you are a hawthorn campaigner) but on this i do.

Australia has been flogged and if anything the scoreboard doesn't do the indian dominance justice. Flyboys Smith and Warner would not have been the difference given over the 4 tests we have failed to bowl india out.

Thumping

Who’s going to do better? He’s more likely to make runs in England than any other option. Therefore he should be picked. Not hard.
Marsh is averaging 18 in his last 10 tests. Really not going to take that much to do any better. Maxwell, Burns, Patterson, Wade could be given an opportunity and I would back each one them to average more than 18. They would also be more likely to score runs in England than an injury prone 35 yo who has been given every chance to cement his spot in the side but has failed to do it. Fresh blood is needed.

He had a shocking tour of the UAE. If we were touring Asia I wouldn’t pick him, I’d want Handscomb in there.

In England he’s a good option.

He’s still the most likely to make runs over there. There is no one else ready to step up and replace him. Marsh is averaging 88 from 3 shield matches this year and you’re absolutely kidding yourself if you think anyone else will come in and save the day for us against Anderson and Broad in England.

203 runs at 29 in Div 2 county last season
doesn’t scream any sort of confidence. Usman played 3 matches over there for a laugh while holidaying with his missus and made 3 tons. Renshaw 3 tons in 6 matches in Div 1. Pretty sure even Joe Mennie averaged 30 with the bat. Smarsh is finished imo.

He was making hundreds against England in England against the white ball before heading to the UAE. Next

White ball hahah. Marsh technique: Hard hands (like his brother), walking after contact (Bancroft), bat in front of the body, chases the swing. Anderson will eat him.

English white ball cricket and English red ball cricket are entirely different. The pitches they produce for their style of ODI play are absolute roads and the white ball does little compared to a red dukes. Next

Arent India also missing a few players as well? I think the Warner/Smith variable is moot.
Given an extra 50-100 runs could've made a huge difference to the series in Adelaide or Melbourne I wouldn't say that missing batsmen who average about 130 between them at home is likely not to have made a difference. We'll never know but every chance that it would've done. Also I'm not aware of any very good players India are missing

Thankfully, I’m sure we’ll get to find out.

What you don’t want is another lbw Watson display who can’t play off his pads - ( Finch ) or someone who stands on his stumps ( Handscomb )

We know Marsh can play white ball cricket. Test cricket he has been poor. Averages 34, 28 single figure scores. You spoke above about picking on performance. That answers your question. Been plenty of white ball stars who haven't done well with the red ball.
He was averaging 88 for WA. If he goes back he’ll pile on plenty of runs in shield cricket.

He got a couple of good balls in Melbourne and is doing as well as anyone else this series.

You don't recall Shaun Marsh vs ind 2011/12?

Just quietly, Watson>Marsh.
