Not if the skipper's out he won't.
Haddin will play for the rest of the tests but won't play in the ODIs if he isn't making runs. Bailey will captain then.

If Wade can make some good runs and keep well and Haddin doesn't make runs, Wade will be playing the ODIs and World Cup. Or at the very least if Haddin fails in the tests, the best Shield keeper will play the ODIs

If Clarke is unfit for the next Test then CA should definitely bite the bullet and name Smith as Captain IMO.

It's brutally obvious that he will be Australia's next permanent Test Captain and he might as well get his chance now instead of letting Haddin or Watson do it temporarily.

Well it seems pretty clear that whoever made the decision to play Clarke made a serious error of judgment. We now are left one bat short with Brad Haddin captaining the side.

All those who think Clarke "had" to play because it was the first test since Phil died, he could have played the same role as non-playing captain. The "occasion" was put before the best interests of the team.

India will be a tough cookie to crack on this pitch, even more so playing ten on eleven.

Oh god Australian cricket is in a bad way if he is made captain. It's like going from a Flintstone mobile to a Datsun 120Y.

So Rogers is the best opener we have in the counrty...well **** me. Haddin can go as well. Time to pension off some of these old fogies and get some younger guys in there.

I'm a fan of Rogers and wrapped with what he has done from where he came from, but he is under the pump now, needs runs desperately. Unfortunately the bloke they were ready to replace him with is no longer with us, although Joe Burns is looking good.

Haddin should not be there. That Ashes series was amazing from him but didn't do anything for a long time beforehand and has been really poor since.

Watson is the other guy that should be feeling the pressure. Marsh has gone passed him as the all rounder and his batting is not up to test standard.

Luckily for us we have some quality young guys coming through, question is, are they ready? I'd like to see some given a go.

clarke was going well. it was just oen slight wrong movement that got him

Well that and the fact he was flat out unfit. CA were right- he needed a FC game. They allowed him to waltz into the side, what happens, breaks down. It is hardly unexpected.

"But he HAD to play, little bruzzy would have wanted it"

Yes well I'd rather 11 players who are 100% fit. If they think doing a couple of jogs between wickets equal being fit then CA have more issues than we think! Clarke should have retired himself from ODI's. His body can't do it.

Ed Cowan just made his third ton of the SS season.

No sideways selections please. There is a reason Cowan averaged 30 odd, he is so average it isn't funny. Him and Doolan are the same. Average.

He was pretty close to man of the series last summer but since then he's been gash. The potential loss of Clarke complicates things but Haddin should be a series by series prospect from now on.

Would be flat out telling him he can play till the Ashes and no more, but jeez he needs runs. The thing is though, who replaces him. Whiteman is the best talent, but is he ready. Nevill is pedestrian, he is only really a solidish player at best, and Wade is terrible behind the stumps. Do we go for Hartley?

If it was just this once you could forgive it but going back to the 10/11 ashes clarke has declared himself fit when barely able to function so many times we have lost count, ponting did the same and weak management and medical staff allowed to happen everytime over the last 4-5 years.

Clarke has apparently only missed 1 test through injury in his whole career, considering how often he has been hurt that isn't a good thing as far as i can see thats a sign of multiple people in the setup not doing their jobs properly.
