Disappointing end to a day we dominated has left things about even in my opinion. We won't have Clarke to bat again. As harsh as it sounds, maybe Warner should take heed of throwing his wicket away when he is dominating. Rogers, Watson and Haddin should be playing for their future but I doubt that the selectors think that. Impressed with Marsh and think he has a big future- bowling or not. Smith and Warner are at the peak of their powers at the minute.
I think Wade deserves another go over Haddin, especially since Smith is standing up as a viable stand in captain over Clarke.
As for Clarke, he shouldn't have played but I think everyone understands why he did but it won't ever happen again.
All in all a pretty good effort today considering the turmoil of the last couple of weeks.

excellent summary

Just need to get it up to page 408 by the end of the match.

A bit more fast food talk should do the job.
Nah you just need Teriyakicat from the cats board. 16,000+ posts since joining in March... That'll do the trick:)

They tried and failed, Wade was pretty good but they chickened out.
He wasn't that good at all.
Was better then Haddin but Haddins shit so that isn't a very high standard to campare to.
He wasn't better than Haddin.

Seriously, can anyone remember the last 18 months? Haddin broke the record for most dismissals in a series during the UK Ashes and backed it up with a near MOS performance at home.

Whereas Wade played a few nice innings but didn't bat well enough to cover his keeping errors.

I think everyone is forgetting Clarke went into the game with an injury cloud on his hamstring, not his back. He has degenerative problem with his back, it could goat any time. Unluckily it happened the very test there was some doubt over his hamstring. But it had nothing to do with his injury cloud coming into the game, just bad luck.

clarke's hamstring problems are back related so for him to injure his back was a highly likely outcome if he was to succumb to injury.

Yeah but his keeping's substandard- and that's more important in regards to selecting your test wicketkeeper than "street smartness"

his keeping was alot better in the ODI series. He has definetly improved his keeping. His bat is good enough for test level (with expected improvement as he moves into his best years). His keeping still needs work but is headed in the right direction.

It will be interesting to see which way selectors go after haddin. Do they go with a young guy like whiteman or shield him for another year or 2 and have wade fill in till he is right to go?

It didn't look better in the shield matches I have seen him.

He saved Australia a couple of times against South Africa in the One Dayers and has a test century. He's a good player

Ed Cowan has a test century.

Wade scored 119 runs at 29.75 in the ODI series. The way people carry on he scored five 50s

'Streetsmart'? wtf does that even mean. Vics will come up with any silly reasoning to somehow squeeze some Bushranger hack into the national side.
Apparently to be a good cricketer you have to be able to fight in an innings. Unfortunately for the Vics, they don't realise that you need to be able to hit the ball and catch it as a keeper.

So is it out of Hartley and Whiteman to replace Haddin? Whiteman is obviously the long term replacement. I really hope they pick Whiteman, have followed him since he came into the Warriors team in late 2012. He is a star and it would be great for him to get into the test team.

Wade and Haddin have the same average. Wade has 2 hundreds from 12 tests and Haddin 4 from 50-odd. Haddin is far more consistent and has dug us out of plenty holes too. I'd wager Haddin has Wade covered on Shield records too. The_Reaper might be able to help us out there.
