Fun stat, Chris Rogers is 3rd on the run scorers list in 2014 for Australia.

Yep, only has had 2 poor tests and a fail here. He was pretty good in the 2nd dig in the 1st test in the UAE.

I think everyone is forgetting Clarke went into the game with an injury cloud on his hamstring, not his back. He has degenerative problem with his back, it could goat any time. Unluckily it happened the very test there was some doubt over his hamstring. But it had nothing to do with his injury cloud coming into the game, just bad luck.

If you take batting out of the equation, who's the best wicket keeper we have? Whiteman?

Hartley>Whiteman>Nevill>Ludeman>Haddin>Wade>Dunk of the keepers playing today.

Wade>Whiteman>Haddin>Nevill>Dunk>Hartley>Ludeman in terms of batting.

Hamstring joins onto the back effectively, they are linked.

I'd say Warner is a fair distance ahead of the rest. It's like being the 3rd best player at GC Suns. 1.Ablett 2.Daylight. 3.Everyone else.
Warner has 959, Smith has 637, Rogers has 408, Clarke has 354 and nobody else is on the list :$

As somebody who had a stuffed back since i was a teenager i can tell you these back and leg issues are inextricably linked.

The nine ***** also have no clue about backs, the idea that is just pings out of the blue is crap, it's the straw that finally breaks the back but it's been a slow and steady build up to that horrible moment when your back goes completely and you can no longer function at all.

Clarke's whole innings would have been slowly wearing his lower back down till that moment when it goes completely, he would not have been 100% right in the back just before that ball or before this match.

All related - back related hamstring issues - the back has always been the problem, very much related to his injury.

what a load of tripe. he's one selfish arrogant prick. I can't believe he was passed fit to play hopefully that's his summer done now.

Haddin's wonderful recent run of scores is:

28, 0, 9, 1, 13, 3*, 22, 0, 10, 13, 0

age has caught up with haddin, rogers and dare I say it.......clarke

I ain't no doctor so I might be wrong about the back and hamstring, but I can say with confidence that you can't manage his back. It's shot, it has been for his whole career. Every time he plays he is at risk of doing his back.

Also bullshit to call him a selfish arrogant prick. The way he has handled the past two weeks has been absolute class. Doing his best to shield the family an sacrifice himself is not what I'd call selfish or arrogant.

pretty sure that was what did Buckley in for the pies eventually. Luckily Clarke doesn't need to be massively explosive.. but his days of playing ODI are pretty much cooked you'd have to think.
I think it goes a bit deeper than that, it's not going to get better, I can understand why he wanted to play here but he may not play again this summer.

Whiteman better than Nevill with the gloves? Don't know about that.
That one's close, I personally rate Whiteman slightly ahead. But there's a clear gap between Hartley, Whiteman and Nevill then the rest.

considering the test schedule even a minor injury means he is going to miss the series.

The main question is if he will be right for the World Cup. Though i guess there is more probably get could get through a ODI with a jab.

Clarke shouldn't play the World Cup.

Disappointing end to a day we dominated has left things about even in my opinion. We won't have Clarke to bat again. As harsh as it sounds, maybe Warner should take heed of throwing his wicket away when he is dominating. Rogers, Watson and Haddin should be playing for their future but I doubt that the selectors think that. Impressed with Marsh and think he has a big future- bowling or not. Smith and Warner are at the peak of their powers at the minute.
I think Wade deserves another go over Haddin, especially since Smith is standing up as a viable stand in captain over Clarke.
As for Clarke, he shouldn't have played but I think everyone understands why he did but it won't ever happen again.
All in all a pretty good effort today considering the turmoil of the last couple of weeks.
