Not a bad tour. Middle order problems hurt us again. The top four laid down a decent platform in the last two games but the middle order didn’t go on with the job. Just lost wickets at bad times that hurt momentum, Labuschagne went out a few overs too early, then Carey did the same and neither of the Ashton’s got going with the bat. Cost us a fair few runs.

Thought the bowling was decent on three very flat wickets. Zampa was good all series, Agar improved game by game, Cummins was bad today but was very good in the other games.

It’ll be interesting what changes happen to the squad. Mitch Marsh and Glenn Maxwell will probably come in after great BBL form. I think the Turner and Agar will stay in and around the squad still. Turner had been knocking the door down for a while and couldn’t get a chance, he finally gets named in the squad and has his worst domestic season for a while and it wasn’t overly surprising that his form didn’t improve here. Needs a strong finish in the BBL and then Sheffield Shield. Think there is still a role for Agar in the squad but he to would want to improve his domestic form

Whilst not on bunsens, the biggest thing to take away from this jammed in ODI series was how comfortable Labuschagne looked on Indian pitches and against a quality attack and in this format. It would be concerning for India especially as he's going to get a shitload of experience in the subcontinent in test series' against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan right before he tours there in 2022.

He really only got out both times trying to accelerate.

His ascention is increadible, he is now a legitimate world class player, you can simply see it when he bats, the Indian commentators could see it seeing him for the fist time. It bodes well for the test championship against them as well.

The change of format may also do Smith the world of good, to pick up some touch that he was obviously lacking in the Aussie summer. It was vintage surgical Smith the last two games.

I think this side looks completely different and far stronger with the following lineup, as for various reasons, the 3 changes were unavailable for this series, Labuschagne as a fellow anchor to partner Smith and stabilise the innings is exactly what this side has needed for a while:

Warner
Finch
Smith
Labuschagne
Maxwell
Carey
Marsh
Starc
Cummins
J.Richardson
Zampa

Didn’t watch the game, seen on the score card that Starc came in before Carey? What was with that?

Pinch hitter. Jadeja was bowling. Made sense to a degree was just funny at the time
