Absolute piss poor rattling diatribe post mortem posting. Giving it to Hawks fans for their opinions and bagging the shit out of our players who got us to the position to challenge a team like the Hawks in the first place....... F@#$ing piss poor. F@#$ me.... 3 games into the season, a season and 3 games from what happened with coach, captain and brownlow medalist leaving, and we are meant to be shit hot!!! Get a f^#$ing grip!!! Yeh some players got beaten, they didn't not give a F@#$ and should be dropped. We played three time premiers on the trot missing less certainties than we did. We lost by THREE F@#$king points. Forget all the good things, focus on things like Stringer getting beaten for the first time in 50 games, focus on libba being quelled by another elite mid in his third game back or actually another team winning the battle for the first qtr. Forget we came back from 32 points down, forget we didn't let the freight train continue to roll us after the first qtr, forget we had Dalhaus going off his chops, forget all the good things from 25 games ago. Drop half the team after this abysmal 3 point smashing by a no body of football. F@#$ me!!! It was a test at where we are at, and it took the Hawks pretty much their best to get a 3 point win. Yeh there were mistakes, things to improve yada yada........ Now and 25 games ago???? FFS settle down a bit. 19 games till the end of the season, only 25 since Bev came on board.... near equal time to improve alot of small things against the best. Lay off the players and coach ffs, it was a three point loss, and every footy game has its errors, and players have their bad days. Kudos to Hawks fans for appreciating a good game of footy, pity some of our own don't.

Wow that hurt. I thought the saints game last year was about as painful a home and away result could be, this one just topped it I reckon. One minute.

Good lesson for the boys at the end there though. Too eager to bottle it up, committed too many to the contest. Get it right come finals.

Over the season the composure in front of goal will improve too. Excited but gutted.

at the end of the day i think the loss will be better for us than a win. It will remind our players they need to work harder to find that next level. we were up to our ears and we have a lot more improvement in us than they do. may not be this year but we will smack them off that perch.

regarding the topics in this thread....
i was all for Jong coming in and yeah he did nothing except that tap to wallis, but to be honest i cant see anyone else available playing well in that role. whether it was dale, dunkley, honey, etc i doubt it would have changed anything.

Boyd was very good in the last qtr. we all need to keep in mind how much rucking would impact goal kicking. i can hit 10 free throws in a row, but you make me do sprints before and that drops considerably. free throws are much easier than kicking goals.

i agree with MD, mclean needs to get the shoulder dropping out of his game. i could see it and everyone else can. even montagna on radio called him out for it, saying he always does it. which is a dirty act on his part saying that on radio.

1st qtr umpiring was some of the worst ever. deliberate out of bounds has gone way too far. how can an umpire who has never played that level interprete
what a player is thinking. they should know the game was hot and be more lenient.

best game ive seen dal play. absolute cracker. we are harder than the hawks and we proved it.

i thought about stringer pushing up but then that may let their backs dominate, need to keep them honest. and as bad as stringer played he can turn the game in an instant

suckling played a good 1st half, got the ball and kept rioli quiet.

Dude paragraphs.

Awesome rant :thumbsu:

Oh come on

Long-time reader, first time poster and I hope that what I write makes some sense. Love reading your comments.

Thought the dogs were great today, but we cannot win games against the best side in the competition over the last 3 years by playing 2 quarters out of 4. We made too many errors that resulted from lack of experience and rushing our plays, and in the end cost us the game. The biggest one was the kick from full-back that resulted in Sicily’s goal and the dreaded injury. What were the defenders thinking? What happened to the structures? Anyway, we shall learn.

A couple of comments on players:

Stringer is a superb player, but boy he has to stop reading the press and believing what is written on it. The guy is a long way from being Gary Abblett Snr and should concentrate on doing the right thing for his teammates and himself. Hope Bevo gives him a good reminder of what he needs to do.

Caleb Daniel is my favourite. I call him little Diego, because he reminds me of the Argentine maestro (minus the drug indiscretions-of course). Caleb has brilliant skill, excellent footballing intuition and has the best centre of gravity that allows him to do things that few can in the AFL. In years to come, when he is fully matured he will be a super star of the game. That is my prediction. Today he had a great game and was one of the best on ground. Keep it up little Diego!

Bonty: Is he still underdone? He appears and disappears from the game.

Roughead: did really well and is cementing his spot in the ruck.

Adams: what a find. Great presence of mind and body. Excellent recruiting. My hat’s off to the recruitment team.

That is it for now, in terms of players. A couple of things on Murphy, not just a player, but a super captain. What a devastating injury. However, sad as it is. I am devastated to be honest but look for hope at each corner. I hope that good comes out of this and that the doggies pull rank and use this terrible injury as a spur to achieve the ultimate success that we all long for. To his great contribution and in the hope that the comes back in the not too distant future, I post the following link from the movie Dead Poets Society. To our great captain: Oh captain, my captain.

GOD DOGS!!!

Go back and watch the contested marks the Hawks took in the forward line especially McEvoys

He tried to mark the ball over the top of him 3 times and could have punched on every occasion.

But I guess we just look at the fluffy stuff and not the important things that you learn when your 12 PUNCH FROM BEHIND
Also saw Adams getting blocked from getting a running jump at the contest a number of times

I have always been a glass half full man, and don't crucify me for this - but I reckon we can cover Murphy's position (HBF) this year - obviously not his leadership and every thing else he offers.

JJ, Biggs, Suckling, M Boyd (needs to lift), Wood, Adcock even Wallis. We do have a hell of a lot of depth in this regard. Shattering to lose our Captain with his missile right foot but we are still a genuine chance this year.

Oh yeh - How the f*ck did we pick
up Caleb Daniel at pick 46?

Great atmosphere today! I went with some bulldog mates and the banter in the crowd was great, it was one hell of a game.

disgusting feeling seeing Bob going down, let's hope for the best and maybe just maybe he can go down the lars avenue and be back in 12 weeks.

I was convinced we were gone, considering that Stringer was well beaten, Libba quiet and Bont way off and you blokes almost rolled us shows how deep you bat. I mean the the FFF is Biggs? Kids a star! And Adams?? Gee I wish we had of drafted him, that guy is deadset in All Australian form.

I'm glad we unearthed a future star in Sicily and we can win games with some of our best out, it gives me confidence that we have a great future as well.

It's a long season but we could have very well seen a GF preview today, your mob is as good as anyone atm and if you can cover Bob then top 4 is a lock.

Thanks for posting something that wasn't patronising. As much as I hate Hawthorn it's mostly because I'm sick of you winning. Thanks for a genuine compliment and genuine condolences.

Let's be real here. Any Hawks supporters that act patronising are probably just trying to convince themselves that you guys aren't starting to look genuinely scary. But scary in a good way. My second fave team, then there's a long space until the next.

Could you have used any more excuses? Chris Grant going down with a knee in '03 also shouldn't be forgotten, same with Templeton getting traded.
Don't let your endless cavalcade of strawmen get in the way of your self-righteousness. Nobody has asked for wholesale changes, nobody has said that we didn't come a long way, and nobody has said it was all negative. What has been pointed out was that certain performances were unacceptable, that an honorable loss is still a loss and that if we are to not waste the spectacular young team we have we need to learn from this and learn from this quickly, not just pat each other on the back for a "good game".

Just as an aside...how ****ed is the deliberate rule now?

Every single deliberate call today, to both us and to them - whilst technically correct - was completely wrong.

What I mean is - according the rules (I/e what the AFL changed the rule to) it is paid, but that's the problem. It shouldn't have been paid because it's not deliberate. Each and every deliberate call today was ridiculously harsh on the player they pinged it on.

Really wish the AFL would stop screwing around with this rule. They've already screwed up holding the ball and now this rule change is driving everyone crazy.

I refused to even cheer for the deliberate calls that went our way today, that's how bad it is.

Just sitting here watching it for the second time.

Seriously. Which of you blokes has been rooting razors wife again? He sharpened the axe he has to grind all over us in the first

I'm still a bit numb about Bob. So just some random disparate thoughts:

- There is no replacing Bob's leadership and spirit. But as far as his play goes, we couldn't be more stocked with players to fill the void. Skilled, running half-backs are our thing. I actually think Dickson's injury leaves a much bigger hole than Bob's does from a 'pieces on a chess board' sense. And I am extremely anxious for him to return. If Dickson had played that game I feel he would have made more difference to the result than if any one of Wood, Roughy or Hodge had played.

- I couldn't be prouder of the way Dahl lifts his personal bar every year. He must be an amazing person. I agree with the poster earlier who described him as our most important player. And Caleb has real shades of Dahl about him too.

- If Bob hadn't have gone down I would have been extremely pleased with that game. I thought we played atrociously last week. We were full-of-ourselves lairs and carried on like the Harlem Globetrotters of the AFL. We brought that weak sh!t to the Hawks in the 1st quarter and they predictably smashed us up the side of the head. But rather than being content to maintain a respectable loss, we knuckled down, tightened up and basically bulldozed them for a half. We beat them at their own game - not just beat them, we destroyed hawthorn at their own game. Yes, Hawthorn are a class act and they found a way to get home. We spent a few too many petrol tickets in the arm wrestle, and started to lose composure in the 4th and couldn't quite go on with it. But I would be confident our style of play in the last 3/4 would account for close to every team in the comp. I wasn't sure we were a serious contender before this game. With 1 minute 20 to go I was sure. Now it really depends how we react to Bob's loss.

- I don't want to go on about it every week. But the first time I said this I was one-out, the 2nd time i only had a little agreement. It seems this week I have some more friends. Toby McLean looks like a brilliant prospect. But I really wish he'd stop playing for free kicks. In one of his high free kicks tonight he even started acting up the contact a frame before the guy got him. It's disappointing. He doesn't need to do it. I wish he'd stop.

- Marcus Adams had a wake-up call early today. Hawks players were all about blocking his run at the mark. He appealed for frees. He got nowhere. Then he started coming twice as hard. And he clunked some scorchers. I love this guy so much.

- I don't think Jong justified his selection. He could at least have laid a few tackles or ATTEMPTED to cause some physical havoc. We got no value for that big explosive body of his - and that is pretty much why he is there.

- I'm not a big umpire basher. But that 1st quarter drove me spare. So glad the players just got on with it though. I was impressed with that.

- Let's continue to give credit to Roughy. He's really rising to the challenge. As is Biggs. Biggs was very impressive today I thought, in a game you would have expected him to get beaten up in.

Bob :(:cry::(

And Im sure your diatribe will be exactly what bev will be telling the team.... assuming he still had a job after this abysmal effort if you were CEO. And my self righteousness.... Your the one obliterating half the team because the "Aren't God" with every touch tap or kick on the ground. It was you who were bagging half the team when they were drafted, and it is you who assumes every player in the team has to have a blinder if not drop them every week. Of course they will learn, you seriously think the team is at a stage where it won't. It wasn't a loss to Carlton or the Bombers, it was a 3 point loss to the reigning 3 feat premiers. And they bought their A game. Carrying on with such wank statements bagging those who have been our best bar this game, assuming this is a major defeat and only anger and disdain should be cast upon the players and coaches. Yeh, bit of a pat on the back and learn...... NOT crack the shits and start dropping players because they were beaten by the elite or had an off game. If you were a coach you wouldn't have a team after the first loss with your obnoxious attitude. They would all tell you to GF..... from under 7's to AFL. But you want to Keep on your "calvacade" of we must instantly be invincible do so. Most with a fair sense of football knowledge took what was needed out of that game, and Even Clarkson's presser gives a more realistic opinion of the game, our team and where we are at instead of your instant Armageddon sack and demote answer to a 3 point loss. Yeh Stringer had a shit game, and was beaten for the first time in god knows how long......... strap him to a post and beat him till admits it won't happen again...... Your a Tossa!

I think this is a case of mistaken identity.
Which player or players have I a) bagged when they were drafted and b) asked to be dropped?
Oh...umh....that's right none, none at all.
Your reading comprehension is worse than your grammar.

How about we stop with the excuses, call a spade a spade and admit that we lost a game we should have won and it was disappointing. And bring on the Blues!

Seriously, go back to draft threads. Go back through the crap you have said in this thread regarding stringer. And seriously, you want to question grammar after that sentence?
