They 'said die' tonight when they rolled-over. PS a champion side continues to win. The hawks won a flag (well done) and have done literally nothing since. Champions? No. Top 4 team - Maybe. Front-runners. YES. I like your optimism but its based on faith not facts. The Hawks have not beaten a top team this year and havent won a final since 2008.
Watch your '08 DVD tomorrow. I'll have to set aside a few more hours though cause I've got TWO premiership DVD's to watch

You do that - I have this lovely little bundle that has ten written on the spine.

GTFO our board

Yes Chappy probably has trouble sleeping because the glare of his TWO premiership medallions gets in his eyes (one of which he kicked the winning goal in)

How many has he won against the hawks, hand bagger... Just like your great man Gazza ablett and SON, THEY HAVE NONE.... MMM i reckon ablett jnr and snr would get together and snob over the one that got way LOL!

Don't worry about them X.

When they are bagging the players, we will be too busy making another one of these.

Working on your theory we have more premierships to watch Hawks 10>>>>>> Cats 8, oh and guess what more of ours will be available for purchase....

Despite the boys' fantastic efforts, it's more than two hours on, and all I feel is numb...

Numb about the result!
Numb about the umpiring!
Numb about Roughead's achilles tendon!
Numb about Kennett's curse!
Numb about our lack of tall defenders!
Numb about a scoreless last quarter!
Numb about seeing Buddy at centre bounces!
Numb about that gut feeling you get against the Cats (even when you're a few goals up) that it's never over!
Numb about Geelong!!!!!

Every time I close my eyes all I see is Scarlett standing on his own in the backline, in the last quarter waiting for a forward entry!
Is it not deja vu?
Do we not learn from past mistakes?

Hang on, now I can pictures Shiels taking that mark with the flight of the ball and I can start to feel my toes again. Time for a nap!

Including the 2008 GF it stands:
Geelong: 185 FF
Hawthorn: 153 FF

32 more free kicks to Geelong in 7 games.

This of course doesn't even include the many blatant free kicks that never get called for us.

Thanks for going to the effort. So I wasn't wrong.

Loving the red cards.

Scott said we pantsed them in the clearances. we simply butchered in into the forward line.

Wisdom says we ahve a sus defence but its really our forward line that is dysfunctional.

Hopefully Lisle might straighten us up a bit

Out Rough, Young

In Bailey Lisle.

Start with two rucks and go small with breust later on.

Renouf *who is 18m younger than Bailey" can also go back or forward

Eagles snagged a win today - they are in the mix for 3rd spot - big game for them against carlton next week.

We need a serious percentage boost next week 3rd-5th is going to be very tight

Well done Hawks. You really frustrated the Catters tonight with your keepings-off brand of football and almost stole the chocolates. Not sure how it will stand up in finals football or with some wind/rain but nonetheless another absorbing and pressurised contest. :thumbsu:

I still don't believe our 2011 flag hopes our gone. Diminished yes, but gone no. Still a chance, but we are definately behind the pack in Geelong and Collingwood, but not far either. Still can't give up hope.

If this year isn't our year, then 2012 definately will be. At the very least our kids will have some finals experience. With a stronger/experienced core of younger players such as Savage, Shiels, Suckling, Bailey/Lowden, Shoey, Lisle and Smith and we will be a force next year.

you forgot to mention poppy mate the Above have been in the system a fair while with the exception of Smith

unless you dont rate Him?

I have absolutely nothing but utter disdain for this twurp. He shows NO respect for the blokes who know their job way way better than he does.
We have an assembled group of specialists that are the leaders in their field. To disrespect them and be so blatantly excited by the loss of key players to season ending injuries makes me sick.

The achillies is the strongest tendon in the body. There is absolutely nothing to could have been done to prevent it. It was a CLEAR sudden plantar flexion with a twist. The increase in Rough's time around the ball could be a factor but I know for a FACT how much rest the Hawks have been giving Rough to recover week in.... week out. I know what his workload is at training to compensate.

In the POURING rain... Stratts goes in legs first and a bloke chops across him..... yep.... hawks rehab staff caused that for sure.

Steven Gilham is an unknown. The MOST professional player on our list in terms of preparation, looking after his body and his gym work. His quad testing showed nothing since his pervious knee injury.

Bateman... an ankle?? Caught and twisted underneath him.

Who else??

Max?? Put Max out there tonight considering the sudden increase in his workload and we'd have lost him too with a soft tissue injury. Everyone calling for him MUST understand the need for gradual increments in game time.

I will NOT show any respect to a poster who does not understand Elite sport yet bangs on like he does.

not having a go at you or your knowledge, but the additional work up the ground and (I presume) added jump work at training will have contributed to a significant increase in tone for the calf muscle and the tendon. I know the massage specialists would have done their best to alleviate this, but in the heat of the match there's not much they can do.

given that, there was probably enough information there to predict that an injury such as this was not only possible but likely. I'm pretty sure I actually posted a few weeks ago in a "ruffy in the ruck" thread that rucking through the match would leave him wide open for injury. that, along with the prediction of rioli's re-injured hamstring (a bit easier, that one), suggests to me that the hawthorn fitness group might be a bit too optimistic about how their players are going to hold up. don't the hawks have a bad record with injury since 2008? perhaps that's something that they need to review.

soft tissue injuries can actually be quite easy to anticipate if you know what to look for...

(EDIT: I'm not so sure it was flexion of the calf that caused the injury. he appeared to be stepping backwards when the injury occurred, so it was more likely that the tendon was over stretched by the eccentric stress of the foot landing and pushing off)

I like what I saw tonight , like it alot... Just need to get me keys and head off home before the misses cracks it again...:p

As for the lads, we've got this mob covered come finals. :thumbsu:

Now for a hit out with the Pies just to re- calibrate , load and hit the afterburners..

Bad luck ruffstuff you can cheer the boys on stage at years end.:thumbsu:

TD

P.s Plenty of petrol in this years tank my feathered friends get ready for a bumper finals campaign:thumbsu:

Poppy doesn't fit the criteria. I'm talking about kids, not a man who eats steel for meals.

*Also forgot to add the Breuster, because he is a god amongst men.

To answer the question: I rate poppy highly. Quickly becoming one of my favourite players in Hawthorn colours. Reminds me of Browny, without the big paycheque and the off the ball sniping. The sort of player who prefers to run through rather then run around. Has been superb this year (especially the last 2-3 weeks)

No need to be personal Roswell, I am gutted every time we cop an injury but if you just accept it then its going to keep happening , when it keeps happening time and time again something is wrong and the club has to make the changes to fix this problam , if you think its just bad luck well you have your head in the sand. 6 losses to the cats in a row and 6 times in a row they have fielded a side much closer to full strength than us and I dont need a medical degree to tell me that.

Idiot.

Sorry I wasted so many words on you.
