Autopsy Autopsy vs Collingwood aka the Great Pain Robbery

In years to come, this loss will be pointed to as the catalyst for ‘I will never allow us to lose like this again’.

Disappointed in the result. Exuberant at the 3/4 effort.

We are on the right path, stick fat.
Unfortunately, a team like us has to have losses like that.. it sucks but we’ll be better for it

I'm just a nobody, but I don't think the loss will hurt the player's mindset longterm, or even short term tbh. It ****ing sucks, but the review will hammer home just how good they can be but how important composure and commitment are. We dropped our heads for half the quarter but once we steadied we actually took the lead back near the end before Collingwood's last goal, and then almost took it back THREE times in the final moments: Tucker's miss, Non 50 to Scott, Fisher's miss.

Don't need to play the blame game, but Clarko can clearly point to the whiteboard and illustrate that if we never got scared early in the 4th we could have won, if we got lucky (paint the umpiring as being the luck of the draw ) we could have won, if we had been more composed at the death we could have won. Hell, he could also (rightly or wrongly) say that if he coached better (WillPhil sub?) we could have won. Ultimately the game was winnable, and where it went wrong was obvious and that means the path to fixing that is obvious too. Today's 1 point loss is next years 30 point win if everyone addresses the issues and works hard.

Oh, and this week's kangalotto is a dart tournament, but we got some dodgy dartboards that for some unknown reason have the umpires faces on them.

I hope all 4 umps are demoted today and shamed for their performance.
They should not be inflicted on a lower grade due to their incompetence. They (and the ex-St Kilda player in particular) need to somehow prove their capability without ruining some other team's opportunity to win a game.

How annoying were Healy and Huddo especially. They could take a leaf out of Will Schofields book and actually comment on the game without blatantly wishing for us to lose. Drove me nuts.
I actually liked how Riewoldt was just barracking for and celebrating individual moments regardless of the team. Was borderline unprofessional at times but he was unbiased and just enjoying the spectacle.

I think the biggest problem with the club is I am not gutted, even 54 pts up, it was fun , but I knew we'd lose. If I'd honestly thought we'd win and not sh!t our pants I'd be shattered now. My worry is we have players in that boat and I hope we dont have a "good effort" today type attitude. Even with umpiring, that frankly, was approaching 94 prelim levels of wtf in the 2nd half you should be able to manage a 54 point lead.

Anyway, will of course front up at the G next week.

Yes, but we're still our own worst enemies with the turnovers and fumbling under no pressure. In regards to the umprirng, I was going to mention Rick James, but where Nick Daicos is concerned I should have mentioned MC Hammer.
The way he faked today, you should have mentioned Vanilla Ice.

Pity Healy and Huddo couldn't do the same.

Every metric of the game but the end scoreboard. Thats stiff as ****.. we won everything but the FK count, we were dominated in that area

tbh Collingwood were the worst team for us to have in that position. Most teams would just put up the white flag and set their sights on next week, but they know they can win from any position and we imploded due to their pressure. Even though it was heartbreaking, there were plenty of positives for the players to take from the game and there's no reason why they can't beat the brakes off Melbourne next week. I mean, Hawthorn coughed up a similar lead against a significantly lesser team than Collingwood and they're flying now.

We need to work the umpires like Daicos does (as they do in soccer) - that is, you appeal for every free kick in the expectation that you will get 1-2 that you don't deserve.
I get that but I don't like it. It is slimy at best, greasing umpires and begging for frees. However, it works. Obviously it worked today.

I notice that Scott did indicate he'd touched that ball when Crisp kicked it. I noticed that he was ignored. Obviously it only worked for certain players today.

And what happened in 96? .. im gutted but also wrapped. No one gave us a sniff pre game. 9 goals up. Another pre season or 2 we knock em off by 120 points.

A disaster but **** me, the insurance is paying out 10 fold

For the first time in ages I felt emotion watching that first half. That was the kind of play I had hoped for this season. You can feel it starting to gel.

Oh, and **** you Poxtel, for the recording running out about half of a second after Fisher has his shot at goal on the siren….

I'm a half glass full guy - but to squander a 44 point lead with a few minutes to go in the third quarter was disappointing.

Clarko is the key to pulling the team out of this morass but to persist with Shiels on N Daicos throughout the last quarter was a mistake. We were running 4 to 3 in the middle and clearances told the tale in the end.

On a positive note, two words - George Wardlaw.
