Well it would.

It would allow him to develop physically and fully express himself against men on ball.

Not saying he isn't AFL capable as he clearly is. But he would benefit from the ability to play at VFL level at times this year. As it stands he won't get that opportunity whilst we have so many seniors injured.
Imo, the 1s are super charging his development, especially mentally. I reckon he already knows he belongs, it's just a matter of repetition and minutes now.

A 20 disposal game in the 1s will give him more confidence than a 35 disposal game in the VFL

What it does mean is they have more of an idea than us. If you can’t accept that your opinion of yourself is very high.

I do not accept that premise at all as I do not believe playing the game at AFL level means that every player selected has more game sense and knowledge than every other potential player that has not been selected.

18 rebound 50s and 946 metres gained.

He played a great game. Take you’re nonsensical hating elsewhere. Now you just look silly.
He played a typical JZ game - nothing more nothing less.

A few nice intercept possessions, some good controlling of the back in the first half but also plenty of wild kicking and loose checking of his direct opponent in their forward 50.

Stats are irrelevant when they include kick outs - I am not sure why they include them - it devalues the meters gained as a stat.

10 kick outs that get bombed to a pack 50 meters away is 500 metres gained yet we gain no advantage in moving the ball into our 50.

Lots of good signs for the future. But as far winning a game here and now, having four blokes (Lazarro, Philips, Scott and Turner) with under 10 touches leaves too much slack for others to pick up

Not too worried if Turner doesn’t get the ball a lot if he keeps a player as good as Selwood from doing much.

Ticks:
We fought it to the end.

Some young guys got their first exposure to an umpire reaming against Geelong.

Atu: pace, courage, cleaner than I expected.

McKay: mauled Hawkins.

Bonar: got the pace to go with Rohan and then pinch hit against Hawkins, while holding Dangerfield well.

Hall: looks a new man up until the concussion.

Ziebell, Cunnington, Taylor, Powell, Jy, Stevo.

Concerns:
Bailey Scott: looks hesitant and does not pressure the man near enough.

Larkey: back to playing behind his man, and abusing the kids for his own poor reading of the play. I was at the ground and he gave Lizard a massive spray on more than one occasion. Really over the top. Gone from one of my favourites as a humble kid using his nous to outsmart men to a bit of an attitude problem.

Mahony: looks bereft of confidence. Still very young but gets judged a bit more harshly than those his age. Still one of two blokes actually working hard in that forwardline though.

Simpkin: kicking has gone backwards although the rest of his game was fantastic.

Hayden: I think he's a midfielder. He's good in traffic but boy do his turnovers stand out.

Josh Walker: please stop trailing your man and please stop pushing blokes when the ball is going out of bounds.

Tarryn: just not working hard enough at the moment.

The forwardline except for Taylor and Mahony was incredibly lazy tonight.

So let’s talk about how hall can get knocked out but no free kick??? Duncan should be gone for weeks but let’s see...

Foxtel said Duncan wont be cites for that.

I thought it was moderate, high and it WAS NOT an accident (therefore it WAS deliberate).

But Foxtel said he won’t be reported.

I think most of us expected to go backwards today and we ended up going forward so not much more you can hope for, especially as we seem to be putting the best step forward and again a mature body goes down early which always comes back to bite later in the game. I wouldn't forgive Noble for thinking he might have had the game plan in place to win that one if he also got to have the team out there he wanted too.
