That said though, IMO Crocker has performed head and shoulders over Murphy these past few weeks. Not sure we can replace Ben with someone who currently struggles to find the footy a lot at AFL level in Davis
Davis was pretty good in R1 and you know he'll make the most of the chances he gets.

Sucks to lose and especially because it's our senior players letting us down badly but there were some good signs from the young guys.

Wouldn't say Mchenry was great or a break out game but I thought he looked MUCH better today. Seemed to be picking up the tempo and getting to the right spots. Will get there I'm quite sure.
Jones had another solid game. Looked more comfortable to take the game on.
Hamill stuffed a couple things up and gets knocked off the ball a bit easy but he's welcome to stay with the way he's always looking to attack.
Poholke has taken a couple strong marks up forward in the last couple weeks which is something we lack though I haven't seen him get involved enough elsewhere. Must admit I wasn't paying much attention to look for him.
McAdam maybe not a 'kid' but looks like he'll get there too.

Sure we kicked ourselves out of the match & didn't deserve to win, plus it was only Fremantle but I thought at least we won a reasonable share of the ball today to at least give us a chance.

We need about 4 quality mids, with an emphasis on BIG BODIES and FOOTSKILLS before we worry about any other positions on the field.

Brad will obviously leave as a FA, Matt is not impacting games at all and may look to follow his bro out the door within the next year or two, Sloane is well past his best, and the likes of Poholke and Wilson are rightly going to be delisted when their contracts are up.

I'm not sure he will obviously leave.

And I'm certain that based on the last 2 weeks Poholke isn't going anywhere

If we could combine Murphy and Stengle into one player than we'd have a certain starter, but on their own they're only half a player each.
I think the penny dropped with Stengle this off season.... In a playing sense. Looked far fitter and moved around the midfield more.

Have to take a moment to give appreciation to Shane McAdam, who up until today I’ve been largely underwhelmed with.

But the kid impressed me today. Flew for everything, took probably half, and looked like he was a threat to take genuine hangers twice that just didn’t land for him.

I’ve always said I hope he proves me wrong. Well today he paved the first brick on his way to doing that. Hell he paved the first 2-3 meters of bricks.

TBH I’ve seen enough to give him the rest of the year. Not one other forward high points the ball like he tries too. Give him 3 months and see if he starts sticking a few of those speccies

He'll get better and better too. The workrate is there and now the tank has joined it.

He's an exciting player at worst, spectacular at best

Looks the same with McAdam and Davis too. Think some more outgoing personalities like them and Poholke and McHenry are going to perform better under someone like Nicks as he seems to be open to different types of personalities and letting people be themselves.

Get the feeling someone like Pyke would be telling certain types to be more serious in the way they conduct themselves.

Remembering back to a few days ago when he had ice on his knee, it's pretty easy to come to the conclusion that like Sloane, Tex was not really fit to play today and should not have taken the field. That they were played smacks of desperation to get a win against the only other winless opponent.

I wonder whether Manure’s article also had an impact?

It wouldn't surprise me at all if at some point during this bizarre season that Tex announces he will retire at the end of the year.

He is just mentally and physically cooked. He has had, what? 6 coaches since he started?

Was my absolute favourite player for a number of years and was a proud captain.

Sadly, he just looks soft, slow and completely disinterested.

Tex was way off the pace last year and only just a player in 2018. I have loved him as a player but his time was up a while ago. I don't want to sound like Kane Cornes but I don't feel he has given himself the best chance in recent years either.

Poholke was completely non-existent today and is very likely to be dropped next week.
Bloody they bought Matt “dinky 1metre handball” Crouch into the team and that took away Poholke’s midfield minutes. I liked a lot of the stuff I saw from Poholkes in the SANFL last year and I just wish we would now give guys like him time in the middle to settle .
