We'll easily win if that many play GF day
Seriously though, the whole best 23 concept is a myth.

Frampton in 2023
Goldsack in 2010

You need a squad of guys to compete and win enough games.

Whos our on ballers in 2025 apart from Nick daicos JDG titch.
Like more players taking up the role in 2025.
Numerous teams posted, and on ballers discussed. Enjoy browsing through the thread.

Eg
Howe Reef Quaynor
Crisp Moore Houston
Daicos Perryman Lipinski
Hill Mihocek Schultz
Elliott McStay Membrey
Cameron Daicos Degoey

I/C: Maynard, Mitchell, Pendles, Allan, Mcreery, Cox, WHE

He starts off as depth, and if we need him if an injury to one the keys, he'll get his chance. We just needed a backup given last year we really didn't have much in that area.
But I'm not sure we'd change our structure to fit him in -- I haven't seen anyone not a ruck doing ruck work so seems unlikey, (going with 1 ruck) Unless he just replaces WHE, as both play that third tall
He's a chance to replace Elliott as deep forward with Jamie playing higher up the ground.

Yep, I understand.

But I believe the purpose of this thread is to project what might be the best 23 if we were lucky to make the Grand Final. Otherwise there is no point to the thread.
Best 23 threads have nothing to do wth a GF, but who people think would be our best 23 if healthy through the year. Of course this can change depending on form and youth coming through. Our best 23 at the end of the year may not be what it starts with.
Given the pending retirements, we should be ending the year with more youth in the side if we want to move forward.

The best 23 concept is about "if you had to pick your best side for one game", otherwise, the post from Timmy is right - you need more than 23 players to succeed.

I disagree with your comment about that you 'need to' have more youth in the side at the end than at the start if we are to move forward - the fact is if we are in the grand final, we will pick our best team regardless of birth certificate.

Lets change need with want then.
I think we'll see the side change by the end of the year, as 2026 will look much younger because of the retirements coming we'll be seeing more youth in the team.

You def need more than 23 players to succeed, sometimes most of the list so in some aspects best 23 doesn't exist, as it can change week upon week. And in the end everyone will have a different (personal) preference who is the best 23.

Can't tell yet. Time remains to be seen. Once everyone is on the park, we'll get a better idea in January. To see the A v B and how everyone lines up. Last match sim, Elliott was still hovering around he 30-40mtre mark

"By the end of the year" - okay, so what is your best 23 for the 'final game' of 2025? And isn't is okay for us to assume / hope that Collingwood's final game is the 2025 GF...?

We can hope for sure. But we can only treat it as week by week, so hard to say what the 23 will be by a potential GF berth.
We'll have to wait it as it comes. So I do get the saying that the best 23 doesn't exist, because there is no best 23 as it can change week by week.

Will be interesting to see come end of 2025 to see what the team may look like. But for now, we can only project what the best 23 to look like in round 1 (given Houston is suspended in opening round)

Jen, no one is going to give you bad marks for not getting it right - this is a safe place. Just give it a shot - what do you think the GF team would look like (i.e. at the end of the year) if we were lucky enough to make it?

This far out, that's impossible to predict, even me; so I'm not even gonna try. So many variables.
But I wouldn't be surprised if we see some older players not in the team, over taken by the likes of Allan and possibly a couple more. And if thats the case, we're in a good position as it would mean unless its injuries, they deserve to be there and have earned it.

I'll give it a go, why not, none of us really know what it will look like, especially if we make the grand final.

B. Maynard Frampton Quaynor
Hb. Howe Moore Houston
C. Daicos Perryman Crisp
Hf. Pendlebury Mihocheck McCreery
F. Elliott McStay Hill
Foll. Cameron Degoey N Daicos
Inter. Schultz Allen Membrey Mitchell
Sub - Parker

Hard to imagine not having Sidney, Hoskin Elliott, Lippa, Cox etc but we look like we have a very good side on paper.

You're probably missing a 7th defender on the bench rather than 2 forwards. 2 mids. So maybe Parker gets in and have one of the mids as sub
