High marking, fast and skilful, evasive, could kick goals from anywhere and had a bit of mongrel about him.

That's the old STFA Ground at Cornelian Bay in Hobart. Still there beside the Brooker Highway as an open playing field just opposite the Tasmanian Hockey Centre.

Hobart prepare to take the field in the 1980 Winfield Statewide Cup Final at North Hobart against Clarence (which they later won).
This tournament occurred only once and was seen as getting the ball rolling towards a Statewide League which happened six years later.
The ill-fated Letitia Street Stand stands in the left forward pocket.
