vs. Sydney in 2008 - 254 ranking points (Danger had 229 tonight), 2nd highest total ever recorded in an AFL game.

Also had an amazing game vs. Adelaide at AAMI Stadium one year.... 46 touches, 3 goals (including one from the boundary) and 197 ranking points.

Amazing performance. No Swallow, severely hindered Cunnington at the coalface let's not go crazy.

With all honesty swallow isent that great of a player or captain for that matter. If you want to include ifs and buts then Geelong didn't have Hawkins.. 30 scoring shots to 14. Dominated contested possession by what 40?? Thanks for your thoughts though.

Would I be correct in recalling Jonathan Brown being the highest in a game against Essendon?

Cunnington and Swallow both being injured wouldn't impact the contested possession differential at all. I mean that wouldn't correlate in the slightest.....

Ablett - 26 kicks, 14 marks, 4 handballs, 14 goals and 2 behinds.

Peter Featherby - 40 kicks, 11 marks, 8 handballs, 4 goals and 5 behinds.

lol, just looking at the overall match stats. Geelong beat Melbourne that day by 88 points.

22.35 - 167 to Melbourne 12.7 - 79.

57 scoring shots to 19. Has there ever been a bigger differential than 38 shots?

It must be something about Melbourne the Cats like. When they beat them by 186 points in '11, they had 36 more scoring shots.

All the other great midfield performances are against bottom sides. Dangerfield just did it against the top of the ladder team who even with a player or two down is still far far better than the bottom eight sides all the other great midfield games are against.

Ablett never kicked 14 goals against Melbourne. Sydney, Richmond and Essendon but not Melbourne.

While we are all naming better performances from anyone and not just midfielders...

Dunstall

But the Matthews stats above have pretty much killed this thread.

It's almost like I didn't say it was an amazing performance.

Cunnington was on the field... If he's on the field he's fit. As for swallow ok bring him in. Taking into account he would punch out 30+ contested and be apart in 5 + goals. Wow you really rate swallow. I hope you have your house on him for the Brownlow...
