To be fair, you are right up to a point.

But this does not mean that the parties will immediately, or ever, agree on the value of the said player. Carlton do not immediately give up a priority pick (11) for example, just because we want him and Adelaide say that is his value. We have an obligation to complete a good trade for ourselves, and if MM has been lured by us, then maybe we add a little extra. But we're not bound to offer an extraordinary pick just because the Crows are deluded into thinking they are entitled to an early first round pick because he is contracted.

In that scenario, I would expect him to be disgruntled with Adelaide more than he already is. Not with us. Case in point: Cam McCarthy.

Ultimately, a deal will get done but SoS won't be considering the needs of the nuffy's on the AFC board :)

I did subtly mention McCarthy on the Crows board (I.e. Keeping a player against his wishes).

Didn't go down well.

We only need and want Shiel, Gaff, Settlefield, pick1 and maybe Scrimshaw. That would do it!!
All others I’m not fussed and certainly wouldn’t be happy giving much up for them.

Good luck getting Gaff to a bottom 2 team - will never, ever happen.

As a summary of all the bluemours so far, here is the dream (reasonable) trade/draft period:
McGovern & 19 for (PP)12 and 25
Setterfield & Shiel for 19 and future 1st
Brodie & Scrimshaw for 24 and future 2nd
Fasolo & Wallis FA
Walsh pick 1
and maybe 1 of Lonie/Freeman as a DFA

Maybe something rotten in Crowland...Dangerfield left...and the other forward ruckman whos name escapes me went to Sydney ..Lever left...theres a pattern

Tippett
Dangerfield
Vince
Gunston
Davis
Maric
Bock
Lever
Cameron
McGovern

Probably missed some...

So what makes people think a 23 year old, who signed a 3 year deal and wants out after year 1 is going to be stable and loyal to Carlton.

Is he going to crack the sad’s when Harry or Charlie get offered more. I get that Adelaide have players leaving regularly but the entire Gibbs contract and feeling deceived situation stinks to me. If he wasn’t happy with the money when the contract was offered, why sign it?

Who friggin cares why he wants to leave? Walks into our best 22 and makes us better. Im not sure why people are having a problem with a quality third tall, who can mark, tackle, has run and mobilty and can play at either end of the ground and is better than any other third tall option we have currently.

Arrow what is the connection? Collins went at #26 no where near CC
Charlie was taken with the dogs 1st round pick. We gave them 2 2nds for it, one of which was used on Collins. Collins delisting doesn't really make the Charlie pick look any better as who knows if we would have taken him. Also, Charlie with pick 12 can't really be made to look any better. It's perfect.

I'm getting absolutely hounded over there for even entertaining the idea of pick 19 for MM.

Quite a few posters on the GWS board preferring to hang onto Shiel this year because they want to go hard for a flag next year. Even if it means they only get pick #19 for him as a fa compo pick...
Totally understandable really. If they dont get one this year or next its going to be harder and harder for them if their better players start leaving. Shiel Kelly Coniglio etc.
