Ruckman Rory Lobb and midfielder Will Setterfield have today informed the club that they wish to explore potential trades across the NAB AFL Trade Period.

Lobb has chosen Fremantle as his club of choice while Setterfield has nominated Carlton.

This has Liddle's name all over it. For a start Russell can be part of our uni course. There will be gym options opening up too IMO. Liddle did that for the Tigers.

Don't forget the AFLW connections as well, which extend out to a lot of elite-level women's sport in Australia.

8 and 24 for Shiel and setterfield is in no way a bad deal for us...

Strongly disagree, because Setterfield is barely worth 24, and Shiel is definitely not worth pick 8. That's us overpaying.

I think once that poster realises why GC aren't going to swap their 2018 pick #3 for Adelaide's (on-traded) 2019 pick #1 - #6, they would back track on the deal.

That really depends on what Adelaide are offering them. GC might be willing to bank on us generating them a top 5 pick again next year, but they'd still want overs in any trade.

I would think that the Crows would want picks this year not next.

Yup, this was discussed in the context of them on-trading with GC.

Max King's coming off an ACL and will still be drafted top 5. Setterfield's ceiling is massive, reminds me a bit of Bontempelli, some clubs rated him top 2 that draft. I think for one of our picks in the mid-late 20s it would be an awesome get.

I do hear what you're saying, and if he has another big injury over summer than it would look like a bust, but he's worth the risk at that price for mine ahead of a kid who had 25 others preferred ahead of him.

We've got to invest 6 months in the kid to get him to a point where he might contribute in the 22, and at least another year after that before he realises his talent. That's everything going well, and there's plenty of significant risks involved there.

This also isn't an open drafting process, as he's nominated us. Our future first is more than what Shiel is worth, so I don't want us throwing that around alongside a second round pick without more coming our way.
