Fas was originally three year deal, some of the team expressed concerns on that contract length. Was communicated to Fasolo, response was more or less 'Give me a one year deal, I'll prove myself'.
Love that response.
Love Fas already for that.

OR on TC re Jack Martin:
Cheers, Dooky. Not sure why Bombers would categorically be told no by the Suns only for them to deal with us.

Unless the Suns value our 2019 first more than the Bombers' pick/s...

I'd be all over Jack Martin for our 2019 first if they can send say Pick 24 back our way. They've no reason to do that, however.

Just for some perspective, wasn't the trade we wanted for Gibbs in 2016: Pick #13 and McGovern? We instead got pick #10 + #16 in 2017. Points wise, this would suggest that McGovern in the 2016 trade was valued at about pick #13, which is exactly what we just paid for him (+ McAdam, but we also got the pick upgrade). I know there are flaws with this analysis, but I think it does show just how highly SOS rates McGovern.

So if Reid wasn't such a dumbass we could have done this two years ago and saved both clubs a ton of angst.

Frustrating!

Sure SOS is having a quiet chuckle to himself.

Adelaide supporters have every right to laugh at us for paying overs for McGovern.

While we sit here and try to justify how much we paid to make ourselves feel better.

Breaking down the trade, it’s basicaly the equivalent for pick 13 for McGovern and a future round 4 pick for mcadam.
Not if they realised that the two second rounders we traded to the Swans for the pick 13 were both as a result of the Gibbs trade last year...we just gave back what they gave us last year, and we got MM :D:D:D

We lost in the last round by 100 points even though we had more inside 50s, not because we don’t have capable forwards, but because the delivery inside 50 is so atrocious it’s just ‘close eyes and kick long and high’ stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, I like McGovern, think he will be a good asset but no point plonking another forward down there when we will continue with the same midfield that just kicks forward wildly.

That’s why we require good mature midfielders, as wel as to help our youngsters develop and grow.
It’s time we bring in quality midfielders that can carry our youngsters in games while they develop and get better, rather than force our youngsters into the deep end anymore

Maybe we were kicking long and high because our forward line was horribly inexperienced and doesn't know where and how to lead.

Add some extra aerial threats up forward, get some continuity into our backline with our main rebounders back from injury, see organic growth from the bevy of young mids we've drafted over the last three years...

The problem we had this year was that we were forced to play too many ordinary kicks, so even when we set up well, a chain of 5-6 possessions was close to a statistical guarantee to have someone shit or inexperienced in the chain screw up their kick.

3 designated kickers off HB, 3 outside-leaning mids with good disposal and awareness, multiple marking forwards who stay out of each others way. That's a good framework to start with, it's then about making sure that the gameplan involves the inside mids and defensive players getting the ball to the better users, and the smalls being ready to impact if the ball comes to ground.

Your right but for the fact we can't afford to win under 8 games for 2 years because cripps will likely leave. We need to scrape together midfield competitivness: vfl, barlow 1 year, dunstan

Interesting, think you underestimate Cripps character. Or maybe I overestimate it, but nothing has indicated to me that he is not commited to seeing this through and finishing what he started.

With the young talent we have and natural growth (combined with the signing of AR helping this out) I just cant see another year like this one. (Not that I saw as rough a year as this one, but I did still expect it to be a little tough)

Wins will come, the future is bright.

Barlow is interesting, good player but too old but may be worth it.

Dunstan is okay but slow, think a fit Kennedy is more appealing to me.

Be interesting to see what else is in the pipeline with mids.

SOS on Trade Radio
- 2nd round picks were always on the table for McG
- Hoping to pick a better player than Shiel next year (using 2019 1st)
- Setters in train
- No interest in Chad Wingard
- Wouldn't imagine anything else, though never say never.
- Ciaran Byrne - Unknown, terribly homesick finds it hard to come back to Aust - looking grim at minute.
- Levi Casboult looks likely to stay
- Fasolo - 3 year deal not true - Know within 48 hours
- Thanked Shiel for calling him personally
- 3 -4 players in mix for pick 1 (chuckling SOS).

Thanks very much for this, I can't listen, and I really appreciate you taking the time :thumbsu:

Forward entry is nowhere near where we want it to be but the way we lost that game was on the coaches. Watching Cripps win centre clearance after centre clearance kicking inside 50 to 2 on 5 was incredibly frustrating. All for the sake of throwing a number or two into defence, which didn't work.

Bolts and his team need to have a big off season.
