I assume us and GWS are 2 of the 4 clubs
Fair enough, but why waste other clubs time and resources just to piss the Bombers off?

I assume it would be next years first to Gold Coast for pick 5, pick 5 to Port or Adelaide for 2 first, 2 first to GWSI assume us and GWS are 2 of the 4 clubs
God I hope so. The modern day Braddles. Our next Craig Bradley ?
You do the trade, just to foster good relationship with Sydney going forward. A future 4th is nothing in that respect
Buggered if I know. I don't think Dodo with mess this up anyway so the speculation really is a bit pointless but it will probably only fuel some more wild hypotheticalsFair enough, but why waste other clubs time and resources just to piss the Bombers off?
Sweet dreams West Aussie brothers and sisters.Sweet dreams you east coast blues, hopefully a positive day for us tomorrow on our journey back.
Along the lines of what I was thinking. So 5 for 8 and 13. Then send both those to GWS. Easy. Could very well happen but all hinges on the Neale and May deals happening earlyI assume it would be next years first to Gold Coast for pick 5, pick 5 to Port or Adelaide for 2 first, 2 first to GWS
9-1 ($10) for you, Brett.Someone give me odds on Carlton making the 8 and * missing out next year
OK, I'll play. Here are the 2nd rounders from 2012:
Nathan Wright, Spencer White, James Stewart, Tim O'Brien, Tom Clurey, Mason Shaw, Kamdyn McIntosh, Michael Close, Liam Mcbean, Jason Ashby, Tom Temay, Tanner Smith, Ben Jacobs, Jackson Ramsay, Max Duffy, Brodie Murdoch, Mason Shaw, Matthew McDonough, Josh Saunders, Harrison Marsh.
These guys have now been on an AFL list for 6 years. I have genuinely never heard of a quarter of them and as a bunch they have played an average of 22 games in 6 years (only 3 have played >50). To put that into perspective, Kane Lucas played 42 games in his first 5 years.....
OK, here's a game.
Step 1) Randomly pick two of those names.
Step 2) Now compare those two against Mitch McGovern.
Step 3) Laugh at how badly those two compare to Mitch. Especially if you weren't lucky enough to select at least one of Clurey, Mcintosh or Jacobs
Step 4) Repeat
Step 5) Be amazed at how bad the majority of 2nd rounders are
Game 2
Pick out one of those names at random and see if they excite you more than the prospect of a fit Setterfield….
Warning: Game is not suitable for children. Or cherry pickers.
Notes: I've taken out Jack Viney (f/s, rated ~ top 5). I specifically selected 2012 as it was the first year post GC/GWC compromised drafts. But I did not look at the players' names first. 2013 is admittedly much stronger. 2014 is hit and miss. 2015 onwards too early to judge properly.
Can't help but feel we'll always struggle to maintain a professional organisation if this is the decision making process around a potential generational talent suffering from a mild case of ennui...Maybe for the hawks, but keep in mind we have a young list and training/lifestyle choices are dependent on everybody at the club buying in. A lot of the younger guys spend a lot of time together, if one is smashing fish and chips and hardly training then it has a flow on effect. Whereas if you have other guys doing additional training/rehab work/doing everything they can then that sets an example of what is required for everybody around them.
I don't want to shit on Scrimshaw too much, but I'm glad we don't want anything to do with him.
That's definitely the risk, but the alternative is two of Lamb, Kerridge, Graham and Rowe. I'll take that bet if it's offered, but it was not.Yep, the distinct possibility that both the players won't come good.
Never said Will was small potatoes (assuming he's fit and ready to go), but Scully and Scrimshaw are relative to Shiel, Gaff, Beams, Lynch, etc.Last time I checked there are 18 teams. Let's assume that 11 more is correct. 34 divided by 18 is less than two players per club. We've got three, with a fourth looking very possible in Nic Newman. And Will is small potatoes? Possible number 1 pick is small potatoes two years later. Right...
We just finished last in a season in which we were expected to rise, that's what I'm referring to.In what world are we underperforming?
Good question, but the Hawks have bet a four year contract on him. I don't really rate whatever the Giants are doing up there in terms of training loads and injury management, because every year their list is made to look like it's full of blokes made out of chalk. Were we interested in him before or after he suffered a crippling injury that negates the very thing that makes him a good footballer? Scully is going to take ages to get back, if he ever gets back at all.
It's been made painfully clear that all Scrimshaw and Scully would have cost is a future third round pick. And seriously what did you expect, we have almost no trading currency at all. Gibbs was it, we had nothing else to give. Jones and Casboult are worthless, Murphy is old, and everyone else is rubbish or worth more to us than they could ever possibly be on the trade table.
6-8 wins in 2018 and I think a very different story would have unfolded, which was the point of my post.We need to stop living in fantasy land and start accepting reality. This is the best we can get, and until we're playing finals Shiel and the like aren't coming. They just aren't.
We've done really well with the resources that we have. Well done Carlton
No, we don’t need Steven MayWould we send nexts years first to gc for steven man and a future second
9-1 ($10) for you, Brett.
14-1 ($15) for anyone else.
Reading somewhere he fell out of favour with LongmireIf it is a swap of future fourth rounders for Newman then that is the biggest steal of the trade period in my opinion. He is a very handy player that lacked opportunity behind Lloyd, Mills, McVeigh etc. Would be a brilliant addition to our backline.
Hopefully we help make Essendon offer more at the very least.[/QUOT
On standby should this happen to read Mark Robinson take after last Sunday's fluff piece.OR on TC:
I imagine most on here would be happy if we could get him for next year's 1st pick?
If bombers secure him it'll cost them.
GWS have contacted Blues to discuss options.
In the unlikely event it falls towards us it'll be next year's first with 4 clubs involved.
Mason Shaw and Mason Shaw.....apparently he was so shite, he was delisted as soon as they picked himOK, I'll play. Here are the 2nd rounders from 2012:

I kinda think our gap between pick 1 and the next pick, which I think is 71, is too large in a very good draft year. I would be open to converting pick 1 into multiple picks even if it means missing out on Walsh. I'm guessing we won't trade anybody now so no more picks coming in? Doesn't anybody see the upside to Nicky Graham? Thoughts?
