Even with Shiel, we'd still be odds on to be a bottom 4 team, which is why trading with us is still quite enticing for GWS.

Pick 4 is about the same value as Pick 9 (likely Pick 10 with a Blakey bid), and say Pick 12 - which Essendon don't want to part with anyway.

Wonder if we can somehow convince Gold Coast to give us either Pick 2 or Pick 3 for our future 1st plus change so we can send Pick 1 to GWS if need be.

Kind of how I feel about him. Reckon he'll have a big first year, and then incrementally improve until he's a Top 30 midfielder, but wont get above that.

Reckon Smith has far more potential to be an elite, gamebreaking midfielder and will likely have a big first year as well.

I think the moment has passed, and given what's transpiring at the moment it might be for the best, but two Top 5 picks would have been far better.
