What if it's got to the point where GWS think our future first is going to be real early, perhaps top 4 or 5 and they think that one pick is now worth more to them than Pick 9 plus what ever Essendon's first will be? It would be this draft.

GWS offloaded a lot, they can probably keep him. If I was GWS and I could keep Shiel I would. The flag is genuinely on the cards for GWS.

Just when you are a top club and already have plenty of picks, you want real high picks. Quality over quantity.

If anything the AFL will be loving the drama getting people tuning in.

I think it'd be more likely that pick 1 will be traded down for multiple firsts, with one of those firsts being couple with next year's first for Shiel. Would probably get a second rounder back from GWS too in such a trade.

I’d like to think that, but once Shiel nominated Essendon there were a lot of Essendon supporters going after the Hawfie supporters.

Now with one hour to go Essendon still haven’t landed Shiel and Hawthorn have organised trades for Wingard and Scully.

Going to be some serious egg on face if Essendon can’t execute a trade.
