Injuries? Poor form? Macreadie playing Westoff type roll?

So I will turn the conversation around, we have got MM and Fasolo as forwards, adding Setterfield, add Walsh, pick 43 mid, pick 69 mid

This is the team, for round 1, all fit

Plowman Jones Marchbank
Simpson Wetering Doc
LOB Cripps Williamson
Krezuer Kennedy Dow
MM Curnow Fasolo
Fisher McKay SPS
I: Curnow Murphy Walsh Setterfield

Rest: Pickett, Garlett, Cuners, JSOS, Lamb, Lang, Polson, Macreadie, TDK, Byrne, Graham, Kerridge, Thomas, pick 43 mid, pick 69 mid etc

How do we squeeze all these mids/rotations into best 22?
Can never have enough mids and as weve found out for the past 2 years can have too many talls .

We dont really have the available list spots to be bringing in a bunch of draft picks. MM, Setterfield and Fasolo replace Wright, O'Shea and Mullett.
Pretty much means that Graham, Kerridge, Lamb and possibly Rowe have to moved on.

Don’t think many would be upset by that!

Lots of speculation today, not much in the way of facts. I don't have any facts either, so hey, let's speculate.

On trading pick 1: Surely the only way we do this is if we can bring in 1-2 high-quality established mids. As ep said the other day, we don't need more kids. Taking multiple high picks to the draft has served us well over the last few years, but that's not where we are any more. Walsh aside, we're now transitioning to an outlook where high picks are trade currency first, kids second. It's phase 2 of the rebuild, right on schedule.

On Shiel: at this point it's 99% likely he goes to *, and even if the deal falls through I think SOS ruled out us coming in late as an alternative, so this is probably a moot point. But I don't agree with this idea that someone Really Has To Want To Play For Carlton (tm) in order to get a game for us. Exhibit A: Bryce Gibbs. He missed out on going to Adelaide on the first try, got over it, worked hard, and had a great year. Exhibit B: Chris Judd. By all accounts he wasn't desperate to be a Blue, he just wanted to play for a Big 4 side that could do a fair deal with WC. It's like those job ads that expect you to be "passionate" about accounting or tech or whatever. No. You just need to be professional. If the club is doing its job, passion will come with commitment and time.

Again, it's incredibly unlikely that we'll be in play for Shiel from here. We might not be his second choice even if the current deal falls through. But if we are, I'd be fine with it.

As much as I hate it, I have had to accept the reality that our trade period is almost done.

SOS isn’t pulling any rabbits of out the hat, our trade period is almost done once setters deal is finalised.

I used to have hope too that SOS could turn water into gold, but truth is that SOS isn’t capable of that so we have to accept that once again we walk away from a trade period without securing an a-grader.
That's hardly SOS' fault though. Shiel had the world at his feet here, was offered more than I would have liked, given I don't think he's elite, yet he chose a team with a hugely tarnished rep, on the hope of a quick flag. I don't think we'll see a genuine A-grader until we start to challenge the eight.

Thanks goodness we still have players like Fasolo & McGovern who want to prove themselves to the footy world that they can play and are confident enough that we'll come good.

Any chance of a daily recap, on holidays and 15 cans down I can't catch up
No need to tell us you are 15 cans to the wind - where's the ****ing full stop, ff?? Rummy..........

Since when has AFL turned to 26 and under ?
Put it this way id rather have a surplus of mids than talls were playing modern day football its not the 80's and 90's anymore .

On the contrary... today we actually took a step back to the 80's/90's. No more flooded forward lines at bounces. Big guys are going to be important again.
