I thought I read somewhere that there is confusion that the Swans could nominate him as a father/son in the mid season draft.

Sounds ridiculous, but then again we all know that Gill and his boy's club just make up the rules as they go along...

Im not sure i agree here. Why wouldn't the Swans have first acmes to him if they wanted to? He is a father son eligible player. Im not sure why there is any confusion.

Because it's a midseason 'rookie draft', not the national draft. There is no father/son in the regular rookie draft.
Swans had first access to take him under father/son in the 2018 ND, but elected not to.

Actually there is a father/son rule for the rookie draft. This is how Essendon drafted Jake Long. As long as no club takes them in the national draft a club can nominate them father/son in the later draft.
I agree with you about them not being able to draft them in this new mid season rookie draft though. They had their chance last year and chose not to draft him.

Swans were keen. They did a ‘deal’ whereby he nominated Sydney, and would have gone there if any non Victorian bid for him. That didn’t happen, so they (Swans) let it go.

Ive heard this before but i still don't but it.
What you are suggesting is breaking so many rules and would leave the Swans open to penalties, why bother?

True dat Keyza, if a father/son is not selected at a National Draft or PreSeason Draft Selection Meeting, the Club with whom he is eligible as a father/son player may include him on its Rookie List prior to the Rookie Draft Selection.

I most humbly stand corrected.

The Swans passed on him as a father/son pick at last years draft, so now he is available to any club that has a pick in the mid-season draft. When they passed on him in Nov 2018 their hold on him expired, otherwise no other club could ever go for a player if he was still tied to his fathers`old club.

Given the draft situation Sydney were in, that's not impossible.

Would have been very risky though should they have had a pick in the teens though and were forced to take on a player they didn't really want ahead of someone they did.

100%. Zero interest in Martin. Not one of the Suns players Id be chasing.
Which ones would you be chasing? Serious question, I’m like Jon Snow when it comes to GC’s list. Only really know Brodie and Ainsworth as potential candidates for mine

Does anyone from GC reach their potential? I reckon most players would improve at least 20% within a better side and system
Sexton is a gun and I like D Swallow but I agree with you

Im sorry but that's not true, it was posted by others a page or so back, the rules and these players are still eligible father sons in rookie drafts. Doesn't mean he is eligible father son for the mid season draft though.

Oscar Manton is an eligible father son selection for us even though we didn't nominate him last year.

From what I heard the Blues had a meeting early this week and Bolton's tenure was discussed. A loss to North was not going to be tolerated. Barker was going to be given the role as interim coach should we lose. Didn't want to post this before the game for obvious reasons. Will see how much truth there is to it. Team has been pretty competitive up until this week so I was a bit surprised. More regarding 3 wins in last.. well a long time.

Bolton not well liked and too soft, wants to be everyone's friend, needs to be harder. This is coming from a former great of our club who my best mate was talking to, so from a pretty bloody good source..

Really didn't want to post this but today was just unacceptable.

Personally I think it would be harsh on Bolts as he hasn't had the cattle.

Don't shoot the messenger or thats the last bit of info I share. There's more, but that's all for now.

I wouldn’t be upset if Bolton was given the sack as I just don’t think he is head coach material (even though I really wanted him to be) but surely Barker should be given his marching orders before anyone else. Sacking Bolts without having a proper replacement is a bad idea.

Barker is not the answer as head coach, whatever the question.

Don’t for a second believe there is a plan to remove Bolton at this stage of the year, would be horrified if anyone thought Barker would be Plan A in the proposed solution.

More likely that it is a former player who is frustrated as the rest of us that results are not coming quicker and is expressing a hope or opinion, rather than a fact.

So in a feedback session in the off season Bolton was told he needed to ‘lighten up’ and build better relationships with his players. Hence the BBQ’s and what not this year. This comes along with a lot of other murmurs that he was all a bit too serious and needed to stop causing a tense environment. In fact he was sent to Harvard to learn a course on relationship development.

But your info says the complete contrary - he is too soft?

Thanks for sharing but I don’t think it’s accurate.
