Why has the club not finished any trades as of today? August 29th. A Thursday, some 6 weeks before any are even possible?

Frankly I am shocked at the inactivity of the club in this pre-mature phase to secure a free agent.

We haven't even drafted anyone!

Honestly, what a shamozzle.
typical old carlton…...

I support this potential move, particularly if we don't lose any significant assets in acquiring him.

Think he'll have a significant off-field impact as well as playing a role for a year, as it seems Papley isn't coming.

Might also influence Martin's decision, what better mentor to learn from.

Every single list manager ever talking about draftees coming from good families. Two players nearly identical in talent. One is a private school boy from the city whos parents are together and one is an indigenous kid from central Australia wbos parents are divorced, you really think that a recruiter is choosing the latter? And how is then that selection alone based on merit. I'm not ITK when it comes to AFL but I'm a former Youthworker and drug and alcohol worker.
Jeff Garlett shoots a hole straight through your point though...

And Penberthey is not even a football writer. Would not have run with this without Betts knowing.

Exactly what I thought...I work for News Corp and love and read the Aus paper and I’ve never seen a sport related story from him.

Marketing and membership managers at Carlton....

So this might actually be happening, I'm excited. He still has the forward craft we crave. We obviously won't pay a high pick to get him and I hope Adelaide subsidise some of his salary. Though it does kind of worry me that we may have given up on Papley this year.

but **** yeah Eddieeeeeeeeeeee

Return of the 3 amigos

OK here goes...….Went to the Adelaide/Richmond grand final parade with family, 75 yrs to 6yrs old, mostly Tiggers supporters, kind of chaotic, arrived when the Cows were being herded on to the backs of the Toyotas before setting off for the parade. One of the TV channels were interviewing Bettsy. As we strolled past, being the no filter kind of guy, I yelled out "Eddy , come back to Carlton we need you" He glanced over his shoulder stopped himself and kept chatting with the reporter. My better half dragged me off telling me how embarrassing I was etc etc.

I always credit myself for his non performance that day, so I will happily take the credit for his triumphant return (IF it happens)
