This would amazing if it comes off. Perfect fit with Cripps IMO. Probably puts pressure on E Curnow but you do it any day of the week.

I like it. I'd play all 3 if I could.
Allows minimum 2 front line inside mids at any one time and lets Cripps more time to float forward (especially when one of the larger forwards comes off for a rest) and cause a bit of havoc as well.
Combine that with a decent crumber and watch things open up a bit this year for us.

“If there was something significant coming for Ollie Wines, I know this is a bit radical because he’s the captain of your club, but if there was something significant and I’m probably talking a first-round draft pick from a club that needs an inside midfielder such as Essendon, I’d look at it,” Cornes told SEN SA Breakfast.

Wines for Pick 8 and change is fair.

After how Hinkley handled the return, Port may want to handle it quick.

Doesn't help to have acrimony out in public

Looking forward to the hate from the usual suspects but can confirm the following is what is on the table:

Carlton: Out Pick 8 and 2020 First Round In - Wines and PA 2nd round pick (think 2019 but may be 2020 not sure)

Port Adelaide: In pick 8 and CFC 2020 First round - Out Wines and 2nd round pick

Carlton: Out Levi In: top 30 pick from GC (dependent on trades) and I stress Levi is yet to agree to this and nor is the CFC (but the Suns offering a top 30 pick is enticing)

Levi is worth more to Carlton than a top 30 pick in this draft IMO. I think he is peaking and should have another very good year next year. Not sure Wines has recently shown anything to justify 2 x first rounds. Can't keep trading on the assumption that the target will play his career best footy once he gets to Carlton.

Wines probably would be worth two firsts
Only when his form warrants it.
I think that's the point why now is a good time for all parties involved if he wanted to move.
Maybe 2 firsts for he and Gray as a package.
Seems fair to me, depending how high the second pick is, may need just a little change

What I posted is what CFC has put on the table for Wines. We are prepared to pay two firsts with a second coming back. Wines is a gun that had a bad year.

Wines in the guts transforms our team. Suddenly SPS, Fisher, LOB etc just get fed the ball. The view in the Club is that finals should occur next year. If we get Wines and have some luck with injuries, top 4 is very possible.

Maybe. 8 is a bit awkward. Not high enough on its own, too high to want to give up muuuuch more.

I could certainly see an elaborate swapping of other picks in Port's favour. SOS is a huge fan of the complicated trade with lots of swaps around the main meat of the deal.

Trying to then trade the Levi pick and Port pick for a top 15 pick for Crouch or Martin, if we can get agreement with Crows or Suns. If not, these picks will be used for a ruck or mid depth. A complicacting factor is the Crouch boys want to move together. Not sure who would have currency for both.

GC have advised Daisy they would be interested in offering him a 1 year contract with a 1 year option. No idea on his response.

Hill's price (as in salary) makes him a non-option. If he was willing to accept under $700k we would be very interested. Don't believe the Saints are the front runners - will be hard for him not to end up at the Hawks given he loves Clarko.

Ah Chee from the Suns will listen to Melbourne clubs but likely to go to WA. Suns want a top 25 pick. If we could somehow swap Levi for Ah Chee that would be amazing (this is my opinion only - no party with credibility has suggested this)

Patrick Kerr has had interest from three clubs but not sure if as a rookie or list spot. He was a tough decision for the Club. Did not show a lot this year but a few people think he may surprise over the next 2-3 years.
Fact: You are not hated bud. I think I speak for most here when i say thankyou for the info you share.

Cant see how we get Papley & Wines given Sydney's asking price, Wines would completely transform our side but we desperately need some pace.

Ollie Wines is an interesting development. He can certainly play. Although doesn't address one of our most important needs and would cost alot.

Getting Wines though would allow us to give Cripps more minutes forward (which I feel we should have done this year) which would give opposition coaches nightmares.

Ed Curnow and Murphy aren't going to be around forever so Cripps going to need more midfield support.

End of the day I think if someone of Ollies caliber wants to come to the club you get it done.

Gives massive credibility to us as a destination club and makes getting free agents etc in the future easier.
He grew up a Blues fan and we’re in his DNA, he can see the future too. We have to get this done.
